I would rather reserve the name Cinquain for the unrhymed verse (2-4-6-8-2 with a substantive title) that Adelaide Crapsey created in 1915. However, I enjoyed your Lanterne's five-line shape and message. Thanks for sharing your loving puppies- Joan

Thank you for stopping by to read and review. I appreciate your comments. I found this definition of the lanturne on Wikipedia. It wasn't listed in my books of poetic forms. Thank you for the information on its origin,

Re your ode to your puppies.... first of al, they are just adorable.
Dogs
They love
They're loyal
Beloved friends
Safe
No one can deny that they love us and are loyal and do all in their power to see that we are safe, and never more than a step away....
always there to comfort us and make us smile when they look at us with their love-filled eyes.
Thank you for sharing it, it was such a joy to read.

A very well-written Lanturne poem. Our little pet friends become part of our life and are like little light beams we cannot ignore when they are around.

A very emotional and apt ode to these lovely ones. They are loyal indeed, even more than some of the humans LOL! Nothing can describe the joy one feels when being surrounded by puppies or dogs. I'm sure many will be able to relate to this.

And here I sit surrounded by our three dogs, two old, one diabetic and blind, so I obviously have some sympathy with the content of your little lanturne poem...
You have summed up the qualities that make dogs our most popular pet.

I love my canine companions just as much, if not more, than many of my human family members, with the exception of my children, of course.
As you've stated here in your well-written Lanturne poem, they are loyal, loving, and love us unconditionally, with no strings attached.
Oh, if only we human beings could show the same sort of loved and devotion, our wacky, weird world would be such a better place in which to live.
Well done, Patty!
God bless,
~Dean

What a beautiful lanterne poem I couldn't think of a nicer context. You have managed to sum up the importance of dogs in our life in such few words. A fantastic contest entry and I wish you luck in this contest thanks for sharing.
