Excellent descriptions even from the details of the Formica tops and Gary trying to wipe it with his sleeve. I like the spelling errors in Gary's writing which is so common in a generation of computer-only users. It like the humor of "diabolical vs. dialectical." So glad that Gary has connected with his mother. But I'm concerned that he keeps calling it her disease as if there's a hint of blame despite the fact he finds her "heroic."

Hi there; thanks for stopping by to read and review. I believe Gary does blame his mother a bit for his diagnosis. Since the illness is genetic, he has to believe that he has gotten it from her. Its human nature to try to find and assign fault. Thanks for catching the humor and stumbling in Gary's writing. I worked pretty hard on that. I appreciate your encouraging words,

One minor suggestion:
Most head for coffee, and look for a place to wait until breakfast is ready...I would suggest this: 'Most head(ed) for coffee and look(ed) for a place to wait until breakfast (was) ready...'
I love that Gary is imagining about his Mom's reaction to receiving his letter. He's thinking about someone else instead of himself.

D.B.T (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): This therapy is often used for high-risk, tough-to-treat patients, often with multiple diagnoses. It was initially designed to treat patients with suicidal behaviours and Borderline Personality Disorder, but it has been adapted to treat other mental health issues that cause problems with relationships, work, and emotional well-being. People with Borderline Personality Disorder often have difficulty regulating emotions. This typically causes disruptive moods, destructive behaviour and problems with interpersonal relationships..... yep, I am currently undergoing that therapy it is not pleasant for sure, but other forms have failed me. As usual you nailed it with this one Patty it is truly amazing writing your insight is so spot on. Love Meia x

Hey there Meia, thanks for stopping by to read and review. Is the DBT working for you? I'm doing well right now, but wonder if doing some more therapy - especially one that is designed for my diagnosis - wouldn't be a good thing. I hope it helps you, and that you are doing good, too.

Reading between the lines, these are subjects which are near and dear to me, I suffer from bipolar I, ADHD, OCD, and Tourette's syndrome, so Iam very familiar with a lot of the concepts which you are presenting here.
I have more to say, but am out of time, will comment more in the near future.

Reading between the lines, these are subjects which are near and dear to me, I suffer from bipolar I, ADHD, OCD, and Tourette's syndrome, so Iam very familiar with a lot of the concepts which you are presenting here.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. The errors in Gary's writing were part of me trying to differentiate his writing style from my own. Both my husband and my son are very articulate when they speak and then when they write, it all falls apart. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement,

Thank you so much for stopping by to read and review. This fiction book is merely my hopes and dreams of my son getting into rehab at some point SOON. Gary's story is loosely based on my son's addiction, and my struggle to get through.
