Well, I must say I am all smiles as I read about welcomimg your grandbaby into the world. What a lovely and unusual name.
I also wanted a baby girl -- but they both died during childbirth and fortunately, I was blesssed by two wonderful boys instead. Now 62 and 65.
My daughter in law Katht had difficulty in being able to have a child, and after being mariried for over twenty years, she finaly was able to carry the child.
Her name is Shelbie and she is now 28 ad on vacation in Hawaii since she is now a teacher....
In closing, I must say the joy and elation I and Kathy's mother Lorraine had at the realization that we had finally become grand mothers.
We dicided to celebrate by having breakfast at Pancake House... When we were leaving at the checkout stand, I was unable to hold my joy and elation back any longer and turned to the diners and shouted~
"We just had a baby granddaughter!"
They all clapped and laughed and poor shy Lorraine kind of hid behind me, ebarrassed but also glowing with happiness. Fhe is sstill my best friend at 88.
May God Bless Haley riechly... and He already has since she is His Creation and put her exactly where he wanted her.
God Bless you all richly.....Nan:))

What a lovely story, and such a beautiful looking little girl. I know some people say all babies are beautiful, but I've seen my fair share, and that's wishful thinking. Some, as they say, have faces only a mother could love - but not this one. Great head of hair, too.
As for the technicals, it is well written, without any sign of SPAG issues I could see. I think it reflects the joy and pride you felt really well. Great job, and best of luck in the contest. Craig

Grand, greatest glory, grace and grandeur of granny experience, inexpressible joy and pride, wish fulfilled, unforgettable gift and event indeed, so expressively and minutely described feelings and emotions; I enjoyed the work.

Love the wording here: "My joy at the sight of her was only eclipsed by the pride I felt for my daughter."
I can totally relate to this: " I longed for the kind of connection I had with my own Grandma."
Congrats, Grammy. I know what a privilege it is to witness a birth. I'm sure the adventures will be vast and amazing.

Lovely memories indeed, there is no better experience know to man than the witnessing of a loved one giving birth, especially if the birth is without incident or complication. I witnessed both my girls being born and still marvel at what I saw even today. Good luck in the contest friend!!

A very nice piece.
I enjoy reading these reminiscences of times past from someone's real life.
A really touching insight into the grand-parent experience.
Thanks for sharing it.

As a grandpa myself I love your story....
I felt some of the very same emotions....
Love this line: My joy at the sight of her was only eclipsed by the pride I felt for my daughter.... (very relatable)
And I absolutely love this: And so the adventure begins.....
That's how life is..... filled with many more stories.... love it.....
