This is a good poem but the last lines didn't fit with the beat of the rest of the poem, in my opinion. I enjoyed reading it, though and love 'somewhere over the rainbow.' Thank you for sharing.

Beautifully penned, my friend! A poem that is more song than just poetry, you "take us away", carrying us with your words.

Have a great week,
Rhonda

A strong if somewhat mixed metaphor. United we can break free and make something of our lives - something more than we are perhaps capable of as individuals. To some extent each and every one of us is fenced in and it sometimes takes someone else and their love to set our dreams free,

That's as close as any interpretation. Always a pleasure to hear from U.

The poem is a little hard to understand. I read it three times and am still not sure I get it, but I like writing that makes you think.

I like this poem very much as a metaphor for divisions and fear mongering being all in the minds of each side. I see the broken fences as a metaphor for this--and when we let our guard down and let others in, we open ourselves up to the bad (but also the good). It's a very well done poem.

What your poem say to me is - If someone wants to choose the different path, then so be it. If we strive for the moon, maybe we'll get over the fence. Thanks for sharing a great piece.

You rending took me by surprise, but I love your poetry, we are always in for a treat of something special, and this, no exception. Great central metaphor with others bouncing off, yet the main thread was nice and clear.
Bravo.
My best wishes.

I saw the picture, one I recognized as being of Aschwitz, or if it isn't, it is some similarly awful place where humanity was confined behind those fence posts and would feel the way the poet here feels. Please Lord, anywhere but here, somewhere, way up high.

Victor,

Okkkaay... here's what I'm getting. A guy's stuck in a prison of some sort - or imprisonment camp. He's dreaming of the time that Jesus or God will come to him in death and rescue him from all of his woes and take him to a better place...?

Am I close?

I never criticize alternate interpretations. Because the poem says to them what it says. But my orignal intent was two people who fell in love and figured out a way to escape. And live their love, lives, in freedom.
