A very well-written haiku. After a long day at school where the children have to behave, be quiet and work hard, they let themselves loose after school and have some fun at the lake.

A refreshing, nostalgic look at the younger years. I really enjoyed your Haiku. You write them so well and having no art work in this piece of writing was perfect. It stood alone. Susan

IndianaIrish, you are right not to attach a photo to this haiku. The light blue background and the words are enough to allow the reader to have a good visual. I can actually hear the kids screaming in fun and splashing in the water. A very pleasant read with a high spirited tone. ~DD

Such a carefree poem, filled with wonderful sentiments of youth and fun by the lake when there is no school for the summer. An uplifting write, love Dolly x

Excellent haiku which paints a vivid picture of what I think we all have done at some point in our young lives. I can see it so clearly. A very pleasant poem.

Being a semi-city boy, I never had the opportunity to do that jump. Always wanted to. I guess I'm not to old to try it. Maybe a bucket list item?
I always enjoy your haiku's.
Nice to dream. John

Yup, I remember doing this into a pool when I was a kid and a lot of other dumb things I won't share, lol.
This is a fun summer haiku, I like it.

Such a great haiku! I love the idea of the children celebrating the end of the school year with a splash, swinging into summer and jumping into the lake with whole-hearted youthful pleasure. Great imagery. It captures the children's mood in the moment and season so well. Nice work!

I love the imagery. This is a straight forward Haiku, which brings back memories for most of us growing up. The last line says it all, "school's out." Splashing, and swimming, and diving, and doing cannonballs, all were so much fun. I did not live near a lake, but a swimming pool was always good fun. It was nice to know someone who had a swimming pool that you could use. Summers were great and a break from school. Thanks for bringing back fond memories for me.
Take care, Jesse
