I like it! I may have to vote against myself :). Good luck with the contest. I will now fill this with nothing at all just so it will accept this review and you can feel a little more confident about your chances. Good luck again.

M-M-M -one could indeed be forgiven for thinking that is the morality that prevails largely as stated in the closing line of the fable here -

We take from each story what works best for us. Don't you think? Thanks for the read.

Excellent. This is certainly a different take on Robin Hood. It is well written and a great contest entry. I didn't spot any errors. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

This seems more an idea for a story than the story itself. The plot needs some development as well as the characters. The idea of Robin Hood as a conman could really work, but what motivated him to do it? He needs some back story. And, I'd rather be shown something of Robin Hood's character than hear it in brief from the father.
I suppose it could work completely as a story told from father to son, but then I would need to see more of those two characters to better understand why this story is important to them.
For a great example of someone who tells a story within a story, you could look at either _Hamlet_ or _The Princess Bride_. In the first case, the story within serves to show who knew what about the murder. The second is an example of a simple frame where the story within becomes the main story.
