This is a well written and amusing piece. It does pick up on one of the problems in composing poems and that is, syllable count. Depending on the region of the world/country--readers with regional accents find discrepancies. For questionable words, I always like to put an author's note, but sometimes even that isn't enough to stave off fault finders. Good job with this. Marilyn

    Hi Marilyn:

I couldn't agree with your statements more. It sometimes leads to animated discussions, too. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I'm always interested in hearing what you think.

This is amusing and well penned. I especially loved these lines:

You know, it rhymes with Hawaiian or Mayan, though I'm not sure either of those cultures actually had dandelions."

Good flow and pacing. Just a couple of optional suggestions for your consideration:

*
"You are incorrigible, no wonder you're still single after all these years.

Maybe try:

"You are incorrigible; no wonder you're still single after all these years.

OR:

"You are incorrigible. No wonder you're still single after all these years.

*

"Of course not, anyways, it's called football. Even you should bloody well know that."

Maybe try:

"Of course not.Anyways, it's called football. Even you should bloody well know that."

OR:

"Of course not; anyways, it's called football. Even you should bloody well know that."

Good luck!

Warmly,
rd

Actually this reads like many a review on Fanstory. You had my chuckling away all the way to the end. Amusing to say the least and I do hope Willie S soon stops rolling in his grave. After all he does need his beauty rest. Very original. Good luck in the contest...

    Hi Donya,

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I had some fun with this one and truthfully, it was inspired by a review I got about a year or so ago. Well, the dandelion syllable part, that is... the rest is pure fiction. I appreciate your comments.

Well, Kim, you know what they say.
You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. But you can't please anyone all of the time.
Go figure.
What does a guy who loves the poetry of William Shakespeare know anyhow?
It's called POEtry for a reason, ya know?
Heh-heh-heh...
Best of luck to you in the contest.

Author's use of dialogue only is nice and pinning and the embodiment of this fiction progresses the theme and plot of pleading of writing which might have been criticized and condemned by a commenter, and flow of thoughts is maintained well.

An amusing conversation piece with Freddie Fakespeare Kim. I rather like the syllable argument because I often wonder if I'm counting them right, it all depends on your accent. Well done with this LOL
cheers,

    Hi Valda,

I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece. So far everyone has seen the humor in it and for that I am happy. It is exactly what I was going for, that, and to give us all a gentle reminder that we need to be mindful of pronunciations in other areas of the world. Thanks for the great review!

A very well-written piece of dialogue. The OK old argument of syllables. The problem is different cultures and languages pronounce words differently and confusion sets in with many words.

    Hi Sandra:

I totally agree about the confusion that can come from language barriers or cultural differences. I'm hoping this lighthearted piece will serve as a reminder for everyone to be a bit tolerant and think about that when they are writing reviews. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I always appreciate your comments.

Hi Kim,

I've had these reviews I think. Although in reverse when across the pond correct the original spelling of words without any knowledge whatsoever of the true origins of said words. I mean, come on, don't people know that dropping the 'u' out of words completely changes the pronunciation - sheesh.

And who would call a game 'football' when it is predominantly played with the hands? Makes no sense whatsoever.

And I'll tell you something else that wouldn't make sense too... if this doesn't at least place in the competition. I've read quite a few and this is up in the top two, in my opinion.

It is fun, clever, and also very true. lol

All the best
G

    Hi G-Man:

I am beyond flattered that you've given me this exceptional review. I think this scenario is something we run into quite a lot here and if we don't show a bit of understanding, or at least respect the fact that there are legitimate differences in spelling and pronunciation across the globe, then we aren't doing ourselves or anyone else any favors. I love your last comment and am so happy that you found it to be fun, clever, and also very true. :)

Especially when reading poetry, if something doesn't seem to scan right for me I always take a minute to look at the profile to see where the author/poet is from. That way I'm not the oaf offering ill advice lol

Thank you sooooo much for this review! :)

Kim,

Very cute! Had me smiling the whole way. Interesting topic, too. I. Ever thought of the word dandelion before like that! It could be a real trouble maker, huh?!!

Fun fun! Good luck in the contest!!

    Hi Robyn:

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. Hopefully Mr. Shakespeare won't be rolling over in his grave and all our Brit friends will view it as a bit of fun. :) I love your comments and am happy that you enjoyed this piece. My intention has been fulfilled since you were smiling the whole way through.

LOL this is absolutely the cutest thing and it shows the frustration of what we go through with the flow.lol
Loved the interaction but you need either add quotation marks or do without on the dialog. You have some and other places there is not

    Hi Barb!

I was having fits with Evil Eddie lol Thank you so much for mentioning about the quotation marks, I have it all fixed now. I'm glad that you got a good laugh from this one. I hope any of our Brits will take it as tongue in cheek, too. :) I appreciate you taking the time to read and review. Shhhh... I did actually have part of this conversation with someone one day lol I kid you not.
