Sandra, very well done. This is a great poem to go with this picture challenge. I thought this was a hard one. The queen got what she deserved in the end

Wow! This is SO up my street I am going to bookmark it immediately, gosh I was swept away with it, at first it reminded me of Henry the eights relationship with Anne Boleyn but then it did a complete turnaround making the Queen the victor and then the King again! Beautiful rhyme and an example of an amazing story told though poetry alone....wonderful I will be reading this many time I really adore it and give it a virtual six as I have none left :( Well done kindest regards Meia x

A very well-written dark fairy tale poem. An excelkent interpretation of the 'picture this' challenge. The picture is very thought provoking about the relationship between the king and queen of hearts.

This is terrific. Your story is wonderful. The flow of your poem is excellent. The rhymes are very natural with each word fitting like a puzzle piece (ironically). A very creative and well written poem.

I don't know how you dare go lie in a darkened room with all that satanic wailing going on.

What a remarkable tale. My mother came from Liverpool and so would have been of the house of Lancaster whose flower was the red rose as pictured. York had the white rose. So your second stanza really should read "The King of Lancaster rode out into the woods one day;" to be faithful to the rose in the pic, and both houses were headed by Dukes rather than kings. The Duke of York eventually became King Richard III, Shakespeare's nasty little hunchback, so you are better off with Lancaster really, even if they did lose the Wars of the Roses. But who cares? It's a fairy story. And neatly told in some iambic metre or other. Lol.

I've changed it to the way you suggested, Jim, The King of Lancaster rode out.... Thank you! LOL!! I have to keep it as the King and Queen the way they are pictured on the card. But, thank you, now I know I have the right county. I'm going to try the Pleiades now. But, just to clarify, does every line have to start with the same letter, I've never written one before and only come across it by reading yours. Thank you for reading mine and the lovely review. Umm, the name of the iambic meter escapes me at the moment! lol! :) Sandra xxx
reply by Pantygynt on 01-Mar-2017
Well for heaven's sake don't try and right a heptametric pleiad as each line is only six syllables long not fourteen. Yes the rules are:

One word in the title and every line must start with the same leter as the title. Seven lines each of six syllables. Rhyme and metre optional. Good luck. If you are doing a classical deity for the multi author book please check the book first and choose a letter that as not already been used. C is also booked by Dovey and I will be doing X.

I'll have a look at the book. Would you mind if I PM you mine when I've written it, I don't want to make an idiot of myself and do it wrong. :)) ( I knew it wasn't 14 syllables!!! LOL)

By all means PM me with it. No problem. It was nothing new, I knew you knew that too.

Dear Sandra, I loved this one. Beautifully penned with such flare it almost sings. Great rhythm and rhyme and the most satisfying story telling within your poem.
Thanks for sharing.
