Yes, it is the simple joys of life that we remember the most. This is a delightful feline tale. I like the idea of having a birthday party for the kittens. I also admire your sister who was a nurse, I am a nurse too.

What a cute story, I can imagine your excitement about the new kittens. I did wonder why your sister was "Doctor" Carol, but you explained that in your notes. Isn't it fun to carry memories like that for such a long time? Loved the old photo too,

Carol (not a doctor, lol)

What an excellent entry for this contest. I too, could write a book with 'I remember' as the opening words of each chapter. I remember when the doodle-bug bomb dropped on our school. I remember when my sister picked up a can from the dung pit to throw at the invading boys. She raised it over her head- and dung poured all over her. Memories are wonderful. Good writing, and good luck in the contest.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I think we all could write a book starting with "I Remember"

Sixty-five years ago things were simple and because we didn't get many small pleasures those that we did, were remembered for years after. I was raised in an Orphanage and one Easter I was ten or eleven a parcel came from my parents. It was an Easter egg surrounded with chocolates. To this day sixty-odd years later I can still remember the smell of those chocolates. Sincerely Anne

Thank you. Why were you in an orphanage? I know it's none of my business, but I'm curious when you said you had parents.

Wish I had a six to give this wonderful story from your past, though such a nice memory with a photograph of a cute you & I think your brother...That these simple things of life, in a child's mind are very important and for a special invitation that a Dr. Carol thought to mail to you, a small child then, made it so special it does seem being that she recognized how someone your age would just love to go to a barn cat's kittens christening and know it must of meant the world to you then to be considered to attend such an exciting event for a little girl.

Thanks for sharing...Caressa_08

Thank you. My older sister was always doing things like the note. She has forever been more family oriented than the rest of us. I love her dearly.

A great contest entry. You're right, the little things are what children remember and we hang on to as we grow older. Nice thoughts.

Hi there,

This is a finely written piece and a treasured memory to have. It certainly is peculiar what stays and what goes...

because it says doctor on the front of It." - don't need the capitalisation on the final it.

All the best

Thank you for reading and commenting. Maybe this is one reason I'm a crazy cat person now. LOL
