I absolutely love this, Sandra. Your meter is impeccable, allowing for a nice, bouncy read.

The content is so meaningful, without being didactic. One of the other things I love is that this advice/analogy is something we, as adults, would do well to remember. Such a terrifically vivid image to keep in mind. I think your words are going to stay with me. The least I can do is award you a sixer!

When a writer posts something that really moves me, I make sure I let them know. Just got back from grocery shopping. Had the puzzle image in my mind. I can't express how much I love thinking of my life that way, now that I'm getting older. My life's not done yet, still have more pieces to fill in. Hugs and kisses!

You mean like the opportunity to become an instructor on FanStory? WEll, I am certainly enjoying it and hopefully it is doing others some good. Now where does this bit osky go?

A well constructed little poem in... oh surprise surprise, perfect iambic heptameter in three quatrains of rhyming couplets.

LOL!! I can't help it, Jim. they just seem to come out that way!! I burst out laughing when I read that. The trouble is, I'm just writing this weeks Picture This challenge, and I quickly went back and looked, and OMG, Yep, it's another one. Perhaps one day when I can save enough of my pension up, I'll take one of your classes and you can knock another style into my brain. I think it's because mine are more of a story and this form suits them. I'll surprise you one day. Thanks, my friend, I'm glad you are enjoying teaching, I'm sure you are good at it too. :) Sandra xxx

You should try the Pleiades. Anapestic dimeter works well on six syllables.

I'll take another look at yours, I've never written one before. I'll let you know when I post one, and you can tell me if I've done it right. I have to finish this Picture This poem first, then I'll have a go. xx

'Twas then my mother told me that real life is just like this,
With patience and persistence, you'll enjoy a life of bliss.

Oh, if only.....
Life doesn't always go as we expect and plan, but it's up to us what we make of it.

A great poem, the words, rhythm and rhyme flowing perfectly.... a most enjoyable read, Sandra.

Blessings,
Margaret

I know, but we can dream. I still try thumping the pieces in, convinced that the cutter did it wrong, lol. Thank you, Margaret, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) Sandra xxx

This is so true, Sandra.
Children today rarely do jigsaw puzzles. We learned a lot from them--patience and a sense of achievement after hard and often frustrating effort.

I still enjoy puzzles. Now they are online. Still frustrating. lol

Perfect iambic pentameter and rhyme.

Hi Ellen, I don't see you much on here now, are you busy with your book? Thank you so much for the lovely review, my friend. I wrote it for the Picture This challenge, and when I posted it I was told this wasn't it. I double checked, and goodness knows where the picture came from I can't find it in my messages anywhere now!! It was there. I swear it!! LOL. Now I've got the real picture I have to do another one! :( Thanks again, my friend. It was lovely to see your name again. :) Sandra xxx

My mom and I always did jigsaws together. Now I do jigsaws with 3000 pieces. I like how you apply this to life. If we can make the pieces fit and not try to squeeze things into our life that don't fit, we can have a fulfilled life. :)

Oh, what a cheering and inspiring poem that made me think of when I was a kid and used to force pieces into puzzles until I realized that I must proceed "With patience and persistence." You are right,

"if an opportunity comes knocking on your door,
It might just be that little piece that you've been looking for."

It appears you wrote a version of a sonnet composed of rhymed couplets. they are smooth but do not get in the way of the central story you told and its moral or message. This is also an apt response to the Picture This Challenge.

Thank you for sharing your talent.

An excellent piece for the picture. I love to see what people come up with this. I had a different picture unless there are two different picture this challenges. Love the rhyme and flow, they were excellent

Hi, Barb, I have no idea what has happened. I downloaded this picture from the pictures Darlene sent, yet I can't find it now! And, when I saw what picture you used, I remember seeing that as well. So I haven't the faintest idea what went wrong. I've taken the words off about it being a challenge now. I will have to write another one for the playing card now. Thank you for your lovely review of this one, though, lol, I think I'll go and lie down in a darkened room now!!! :) Sandra xxx

LOL I never saw the one you used anywhere so I thought maybe it was changed till I saw another playing card.

As I read through to the end, I thought to myself, what a wonderful learning exercise this would be for a child. Reverent storyline, meter and rhyme.

Aww, thanks Mary, what a lovely thing to say. My mum actually had us all (4 of us) doing jigsaws from a young age. She said it teaches patience. She was right. There are many lessons in doing them, finding the right pieces to put in the right places. When we put that last piece of the puzzle in, the satisfaction and pride we got from it was enormous. I was so pleased that you thought it would be a good learning exercise too. Thank you, my friend. :) Sandra xxx
