This is a remarkable story and very interesting. I respect and admire anyone who joins up as all that discipline is beyond me lol. I like the way this story was told and felt like I was there with you, which thank your lucky stars I was not. Believe me; glass house every day lol.

Thank you for sharing your military experience with us all.It is a pleasure to read your experiences and anecdotes with us. From one veteran to another, I truly commend you on your service. As a woman in the Army I know that times were difficult for you, but you seem to have done alright for yourself. Thank you for your service and always keep your head up high. I was drafted in 1970 , and between the military and reserve, plus the national guard I served about 12 yrs.
I'm glad you're here among the family of Fanstory. Keep up the good work and may all your dreams become a reality. God bless you and stay safe.

My youngest daughter just went through a 'I'm joining the Marines' with less than six months left to finish her degree. She scared us half to death. Thankfully, she's over it.

The works is such a frightening place anymore, and with our son-in-law currently active, there's only so much worry I can handle.

Interesting read, and I'd be curious to know if the sexual harassment of women was as prevalent then as now, perhaps just not reported or spoken of.

As always, thank you for reading and reviewing. Sexual harrasment was even more prevalent during the 70s and early 80s. The rules of 'he says, she says' were far more lax, and reprisal for reporting an issue was harsh. I'm thinking of addressing that issue in later parts of the story.

It is rare to read about a woman in the military. It must have been a wonderful time for you. The drinking age was eighteen for me too. I was unaware of WACS at that particular time. I think of them in WWII.
