This senryu, Our Country's Founders, is pretty clear on the feeling of a Donald Trump administration. Once the EPA is cleared out of people concerned about the environment, the Education Secretary replaces public education with cookie cutter charter schools, the Secretary of State gives the Russians the key to the White House, the President's adviser has him rundown all our allies while preparing our military for war, and the freedom of the press becomes a punch line to a joke, we will be ready to face either a civil war, WW3, or both.

I am 100% in agreement with you. I am afraid the possibility of WWIII is very real. I hate trump. He is a total incompetent idiot. I pray he will get impeached soon and his whole cabinet goes with him.

Shortcomings is an understatement in this case! Thank you for sharing your social commentary in this senryu reminding us of the Khan incident in your notes, plus the illustration. I liked the alliteration and echoing vowels as well. Cheers- Joan

I love the way you think, hahaha, you are so right, Bob. I like how you expressed your sentiments and the situation. You are right, when we impeach him, there is no question in my mind that it will happen, we are still stuck with a bunch of bigot fundamentalist incompetent shxthxxds. Steve Bannon is a dangerous man. He is the one to watch closely. ....sigh. God help us all.

I continue to shake my head about this man's capability to lead this nation into a Hell hole. Even worse, he is a non-literate lover, leftist lunatic ! I don't think he even knows what Humpty Dumpty story was actually about. He just knows how to cheat and get through loop holes in the tax system to get himself richer. In your poem, Line 1 and 2 tell the disbelief from the father of the Constitution and Bills of Rights about this 45th pres. Even Abraham Lincoln is more disappointed about Trump's handling of nation's headaches then he was about the split of the nation in his time I like line 3 ... as trump stumbles along. My goodness, he fell flat on his face with his hasty signing his Executive Order on Immigration Ban and yet he's still be arrogant enough to challenge the Justice. He is only wasting tax dollar money to drag the issue out. Somebody needs to take that pen away from him before a really, really big fiasco occurs. Very nice write for the entry.

I love how smart and aware of reality you are, unlike that sorriest excuse for a President. You said it well and I agree with you 100% I'm proud of you.
If he had a brain he would be Hitler encarnate. But Steve bannon holds that place well. God help us all.

You know there are poems written about their disappointments on Trump. I found them online. But as a narcissistic, he careless who thinks of him. So our rant means nothing to him, unless God clobbers him on the head, then he will back down, like God made Hitler dug himself a grave. Very frightening. luv.

My reading list over the past year or so has consisted mainly of books about the founders: Chernow's biographies of Washington and Hamilton, McCullough's biography of John Adams, a book about the Constitutional Convention called "The Quartet". I'm now in the middle of a book about the Constitution written by a father and son team.
The are all rolling over in their graves. It is ironic that the electoral college was designed, in part, precisely to keep people like Trump from ascending to the presidency (I guess the founders knew that democracy is great, unless the majority of the people are stupid) , and it was the electoral college that made his ascendency possible. The man is an unprecedented president. Keep writing!

Our country is in a terrible state. I'm amazed every time I look at a country of nearly three-hundred-million people whose best two potential candidates are widely known thieves and liars. To top it all off, the multiple news agencies tell every story differently, leaving us, the people, trying to figure who speaks the truth, if anybody. Great job! :-)

I'm sure the nation's founders are turning over in their graves at what Trump's done so far. By calling the press "the enemy of the people," he really got extreme. When the president himself can't get his facts right, the press are only being responsible when they call him on it. Even foreign countries are disturbed by what he may do. English Parliament was debating a possible Trump visit. We'll have to wait and see, but things aren't looking good so far. He deserves a chance to prove himself as president. Not doing a good job so far. Excellent presentation with the colors and picture of pocket Constitution to round it out. judi
