Thank you Alex. I must admit that one of my sources of inspiration is a cousin of mine, Carlotta Walls-Lanier. She is one of the "Little Rock Nine", the nine African American students who integrated Central High School In Little Rock Arkansas. Once I read her story, I felt that I had to tell my story and she encouraged me to do so.

Wow! Thanks Michael, with this kind of encouragement, I don't dare not go through with it now. One of my biggest concerns wa that I would not be up to seeing it through. I have to now. Thanks a lot, I think. LOL.

However it does not read like a final draft.
I would suggest one reread by you and some punctuation improvements.
Also it is a very short chapter.
It might be better as an introduction.
I love that it is clearly written with heart.
You have a story to tell. I can absolutely relate to that.
I look forward to the following chapters

I thank you for your critique. Admittedly, this is my very first attempt at this type of writing as I am first and foremost a poet. I truly believe that I have a story to tell that will be of wide interest, but I am a total novice at this, so I do expect to make some mistakes. It will be of great benefit to me to receive helpful hints and bits of instruction from authors like you to help me produce a work that will honor all who contribute to my success.

Very good choice; no forty mile marches. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read. There is good imagery.

Thank you Rhonda, this is a story that I have wanted to tell for so long. I hesitated because many people I do not know will possibly read it and I don't know what they will think.

You'll get used to it, but watch for hurt feelings when people tell their opinions! I'm glad you're doing it!
