Ouch. Yes, there is danger ahead or beneath these icicles. Your words are well selected to paint a picture of ice and convey the mood of danger. You also have effective use of D and T alliteration and the -er suffix. Thank you for sharing your wintry contribution to the book.

Thank you, Andre!

Good poem. I once read a murder mystery about a man who was killed when an ice icicle stabbed him. The police were dumfounded when no weapon was found.

Excellent poetic contrast with seemingly harmless 'tiny' ice becoming murderous adn dangerous. Well portrayed, finely presented and with great word economy. Superb alliteration of T and D as well.
Bravo

As if we don't have enough problems with bullets killing people in Chicago, every couple of years it seems that someone gets killed by an icicle falling from a high rise. Nevertheless, I've always thought they were kind of cool - and long overdue for a poem. Thanks for correcting that injustice.

Wow. I didn't realize that was so. But I don't suppose people can dodge what they can't see, huh? Thanks, sweetie!

Winter really is a dangerous season, and I wish it would come back! Love the photo and its fit with your words. I remember a time when icicles hung like daggers along the soffit of my house. A time long ago!
Love the last line, which brings to mind times I noticed ice daggers before getting into my car to drive to work on icy roads. Danger ahead, indeed!

This is a terrific poem. I love how you compare the icicles to daggers. The last line of your poem sums everything up. Great use of just three lines.

Another good haiku Robyn,
of how sharp are the dangling icicles that hang from one's eaves,
no one knows when they will break off and hit you like a dagger.

Yes, you are correct. An icicle can break off and stab with enough force to kill a person. You capture this phenomenon with only a few words.

Thanks, Mark. It's kind of scary when one thinks about it. Little kids have no idea~! Thanks for reading!

Hi friend, this very true. It could be dangerous going under these icy daggers. I have seen them come down like a sword.
Beautiful but eerie imageries.
