This is a very well written haiku you have penned. You used very good descriptive wording and very good imagery with the picture! I enjoyed reading and reviewing. Blessings, Teri

Well, if one a' those those things happens to break loose and hit you in the top of your head...unless you're wearing a Kevlar helmet then there could be problems.
Ever seen the movie, 'The Lovely Bones?'
Case closed (but that guy deserved what he got...and THEN some!)
Nice haiku, Robyn. Very true to form.

Love the phrase winter dagger. This was a well done haiku having all things in place that a haiku needs. Thank you for sharing your work.

Watch out the time is short
Soon the knives will fall
After dripping for a time
They will impale what moves under
So the time is slowly moving
Towards the spring of dreams wishing
Drip the icicles from the roof
Shown as crystal sparkling gifts

So true! People have been KILLED by these things!
We used to have HUGE ones hanging from our home in Alaska...
we learned never to walk under them!
Your haiku-like poem (I still have the need to WANT peaceful, Japanese type topics in these, you know?) is well written and stops the reader cold (no pun intended) on the first two lines, allowing us a VERY stark and foreboding image BEFORE the satori, which I found quite effective!
Great job on this, Robyn,
Cat

Thanks so much, Cat. I can't imagine living in Alaska!

This is so true. Those icicles can make winter dangerous. I'm sure they could be used in a murder mystery or horror film. They could slice a head open if they fall at the right angle. This makes for a good haiku.

ahhhh - I remember these from growing up in Michigan. I have had a few of them fall close to me and they are dangerous. Good clear imagery in the first two lines and a good satori. I think I would like "danger from above" a little better, though. Feel free to ignore me LOL

Vivid imagery! This brought back memories of taking photos of a friend under the eaves of a roof with giant icicles, up in Goose Bay years ago! Living dangerously! LOL
