A very well-written haiku. An economical romance, after dinner and sex, ends the relationship by biting off his head. Waiting for the next invitation to dinner.

I like this haiku. The mantis is one of my favorite bugs. They are fascinating to watch. I swear they watch me and think too. Creepy at times. Did you know that sometimes she lets her mate go. Can you imagine how satisfied she must be that to happen.

Anyway, your haiku is in good form. The only problem I have is the use of the two verbs side by side (mates then devours). It seems a bit awkward but that me just the way I hear things. Your final line is rather humorous.

Nice paring of poem and picture. Fine overall presentation...

A green bug is preying on her partner..yummy dinner after mating. Beautiful, short words in haiku poem but so well describing the mantis. Beautifully put together. Excellent work. With love, Ella

IndianaIrish, I really like your haiku. The picture made
me smile. It made me wonder if the male knows it's
going to get its head chomped off, so better make his performance count - or - does the female even know she is going to turn 'cannibal' at the end - or - is it a case of "well that was a bad lay, best chomp his head off!"
So many questions - nature is amazing! Thanks for
sharing. ~DD

Hi, Indy. Good one. LOL. sort of funny, you know. Good thing humans don't behave like that. I would be celibate, you can bet on that. This is a great response to the challenge. Blessings, Bob

You'd think after the first mantis mating, the other guys would get the idea and become celibate.

I knew the female bit off his head. A new take on dinner and sex, or in this case, sex and dinner.

She looks triumphant in the photo. LOL.

Yes an interesting observation here on little praying mantis and its 'partying' lifestyle !- no time to lose and a great pic
