hmmm. . .quite thought provoking Michael!

It just goes to show you Men are from Mars & women are from
another planet! (LOL)

"Why in the world", she asks "would a man find a heavy footed, weak-jawed
squat to the ground, rapacious bully. . .an ideal role model?"

Sigh. . .I see we women still have lots of work to do. . .;-)

Well done M :-)

an excellent haiku but a sad one. The imagery is very vivid and the sadness of the satori sinks in very quickly. These majestic animals, dangerous no doubt but no less beautiful

Hello, Michael,

Awesome haiku for our tenth challenge. I have to agree with you, good male role models are extinct. LOL Nah, there are plenty of good men. LoL

Wow, this is absolutely stunning, Mav. Such irony and in fact a lesson that mankind could take some heed from. I didn't research to find out how and why they became extinct, but my guess is it would have to be because of something we did.

Beautiful painting and an overall profound work of art.

Ange

PS: How come your name isn't on the group list?

-Great image and presentation.
-Good nature reference.
-I like the message in line two.
-The satori makes that message even more poignant,
esp. with many of our current species in danger of the same thing.
-Thanks for sharing.

This is not a topic I would expect for a haiku--an extinct species. But it works well and you make great commentary on the topic. Best of luck having your creative poem selected for inclusion.

Fantastic satori deserving of a 6. Great presentation. Great layered meaning. Technically correct. This is really well done, Michael

Ahhhhhh....
Yes, this time I get the whole ahh haa budiness. Your last line certainly has that going for it. Yes, man emulating a beast will be his downfall and that is still the mindset of the average male, yourself excepted, of course. Great little poem. NG

Hi Mikey, the saber tooth tigers are very rare species now since poachers plug their teeth off for moolah. Sad but they get away from doing it. Reading this now reminds me of the time when I was little, a dog bit me in in my leg and so being in village, the villager sent me off to a medicine man who took out a rare tooth, he said this tooth belonged to a tiger, I will grind a bit off and mix it in with water and you take it to get rid of any possible disease that the dog may have. So I diligent drank it. Well I was five yrs old then, I guess I got to be obedient. I am still living now. Interesting take on the haiku.

Scary to think that the sabre tooth is the model predator for humans. We'll be extinct pretty soon too, if things continue as they've been going.

Best to you!
