Ummmm, apple cider. I like all apples. McIntosh is just about everyone's favorite, I think. Not too-too anything--just right. Nicely done. Marilyn

Thanks for the review. My friend in Vermont has an old wooden apple press and every autumn we collect our apples (I have a few secret heritage trees) and we spent the day making cider and juice. Delicious fun! Cheers, j

Thanks for the review. McIntosh are best right off the tree, then the flavor changes slightly. I find these old apples trees on the back roads of Vermont and make apple crumble with oatmeal on my wood stove, feeling like a pioneer, ha ha. Cheers, j

Great response to this writing prompt. A bit of wisdom (getting along with others) a bit of sass, and a bit of humor. Fun read. Good luck in your contest.

It was a fun write. There are many heritage apples growing wild around my cabin in Vermont. I feel like a little pioneer as I pick them and make cobbler and apple sauce in my wood burning oven. Thanks for the review, cheers, j

Thanks for the review. Nothing better than making your own apple pie. In Vermont there are many old fashioned apple trees and I always make apple crumble with oatmeal and brown sugar, so easy. Cheers, j

Love it! You got exactly what the contest called for! Being a chef, you have just the right way to describe all the ways a McIntosh apple can be used. The only sentence that caused me to stumble was: "On an old sloping porch and into an antique cider press, I am the queen of tart cider, so delicious on a crisp autumn afternoon." I was on the porch and then the press. But I know it's to be enjoyed on the porch after being pressed into cider so the meaning was clear but the word order a little confusing. Otherwise, wonderful reading!

Thanks for the honest and helpful review. I think I went down apple cider memorylane at the end. One of my best memories is making cider at my friend;s old farmhouse all day. Eating apple cakes and pie and making wonderful juice. How is the reader to know this? ha ha I will change that last line. Thanks for the encouraging 6 stars and fun contest. Cheers, j

Your 100 words is really well written. Not easy to compose something in so few words but you have done a vignette that is great to read. You have written an amusing picture of who you are as a Mcintosh apple and, although I have not heard of them, I feel I know these apples now! Susan

Ha ha your reviews always bring a smile to my face. I thought I would write something a little sultry for ths contest. I am researching tree houses now and thinking of building one this summer in Vermont. Maybe I will build in an apple tree so I never have to come down. Cheers, j

From the get go on this amazing short story I was locked in...It seemed to have a hint of sensual sultry flair to it.
Excitingly Original...Loved It.
My Son knows the Tree Master if you want to get in touch...Africa, Germany and Japan are exploding with tree houses...Glad you got a chuckle out of this...Q.T...Phil.

S very well-written short story. I love apples in many ways. My favourite dish is an apple pie which I sometimes prefer above chocolate cake.

It just so happens McIntosh is my favorite eating apple because it is a bit tart ("saucy") and easy to nibble.
Good personification of yourself and two others in paragraph two.
Easy to visualize your being pressed into cider in paragraph three.
