That's a great little haiku about father/son relationships. I am not too knowledgeable about the haiku format and have been too chicken to try it myself, but yours sounds great. Evi

Robyn,
I have to say, this is one fantastic haiku. I gave away my last 6 today. You will have to accept a virtual badger 9. I am over the moon with this one.
I don't know if you did this on purpose, but it reads beautifully forwards and backwards. Brava!

Thank you, Lu! No, I don't hold with the backwards/forwards thing, but I'm tickled if it worked. Thanks so much! I appreciate your opinion!

oooooh this is a WINNER, little sister. I love it! The presentation is stunning and the words so meaningful and beautiful. I remember you shared in at the club... it is so neat that we can do that. I think we are becoming a wonderful haiku family. Well done! I am proud of you. :)

Hi Robyn:

This is a wonderful poem. So simple in the thought and imagery but powerful in the memories it instills in both father and son. (or daughter) I have so many fishing memories with my father. I grew up to out fish all the boys lol

Thanks for sharing.

I continue to fine your work excellent and stimulating. You are an excellent poet there's no question. Nothing to change here so if I say anything more, I'd just be rambling to fill the page.(*_~)

Hi Robyn. This is a nicely composed and illustrated haiku. It's clearly expressed, easy to understand and has a third line that makes sense. Marilyn

Hey! That's the best compliment you could have given me! Thanks!

Thank you for saying that, Robyn. I do give haiku a look-see. Many of them I have to skip over because they make no sense whatsoever. To read one that does is rewarding to the reader and the writer.

    Marilyn,

I ADORE haiku. And I have to think more people would, as well, IF they were exposed to really good stuff - which isn't often the case here, unfortunately. Really good haiku is amazing and insightful and inspiring. It's some of my favorite reading! (That and senryu, haiku's ironic cousin.).

I'm not saying I write good haiku -- but I do try to write it APPROPRIATELY and not just follow a few staid, out-of-date rules that mean nothing. That's why your comments mean so much. Thank you bunches!

Hi Robyn. I was in a writing group for a few years when I lived in California. Some really good writers and poets. One guy wrote haiku very well and illustrated them with his watercolors. He was the best I've read. For me, haiku has to be crystal clear. For the third line to have an aha moment--there really DOES have to be an aha.

My, my, Robin, this picture could be from our own album. My son now in his forties is the fisherman in our family. Jersey can be a good place to fish and we often have some to cook. A whimsical poem bringing back memories of time past.
