While I cannot deny the truth of the evidence you have put forth,
I can take into account their reverberations.
First, let me say, pre-21st Century actions reflect pre-21st Century
societal thinking. Being of Irish descent, like many other ethnic
groups in this country, I am well aware of immigrant prejudice as
a component of the American character.
However, I can't countenance the concept of "Well, we always have,
so why shouldn't we again". The underlying "hope" for man is to
believe we, as a species, can evolve to a true egalitarian society.
Although, as you have shown, we have historically failed to honor
THE founding value of the new world (i.e. freedom from religious
persecution, which extends, quite honestly, to freedom from cultural
persecution) that doesn't mean we can't rise above that failing. Or
fight for another inch in the slow grind of progress.
Second, and possibly more salient to this discussion, this "Select
Seven" ban (above and beyond what to me is blatant blanketing and
fear mongering) was implemented with little or no vetting or advice
on legalities, procedures and exceptions. And with no regard for the
existing pipeline of thoroughly investigated and cross-checked
applicants who have met every requirement for acceptance, only
to be turned away, literally, at the gate after their 18-24 month long
vetting.
Suspending acceptance of new applications for both visas and
admittance I could understand as "justifiable" security measures -
but a slammed door policy does nothing more than heighten distrust
amongst both Americans in the street, and between the international
leaders and our own country's leader.
It was rash and poorly planned...and second only to the number of
lives it has shattered (both in immediacy and in long term anxieties),
it has damaged America's brand world-wide.
And lastly, it signifies a moral right to engage in wholesale discrimination
on the basis of "race, culture and ethnicity" - regardless of the logic, while
at the same time gives aid and comfort to the enemy, in terms of their goals
of radicalization and recruitment.
And as recent history has shown us, radicalized from a distance Americans
have proven to be every bit, no, more, lethal to Americans than any "allowed
to immigrate from these seven countries" have.
That's what the hoopla is all about. . .at least to me.

Appreciate you taking the time to read this Editorial, and for the review.
My main disagreement is that it was not Americans who attacked on 9-11. Proof in the pudding is that it was a Muslim terrorist act. Nothing more, nothing less. And, that is the kind of foolishness The Donald's actions were designed to prevent, although it appears many in the United States chose to turn a blind eye to the reality of these events?
Is it any wonder Muslim terrorists, watching and observing the US tear itself apart from within, are not becoming more bold as you stated?
What they plan next in the area of attacking the US is anybody's guess, especially since the US does not seem to care to take necessary actions to prevent these attacks from occurring.

However, I find it interesting that you cite 9-11 as evidence
of a need to ban visa travel from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Somolia,
Sudan and Libya when
"the hijackers in the September 11 attacks were 19 men affiliated
with al-Qaeda, and 15 of the 19 were citizens of Saudi Arabia.
The others were from the United Arab Emirates (2), Egypt
and Lebanon."
Were they excluded, one wonders, because of Trump Enterprise's
business dealings and hopeful future dealings there?

Excellent. I agree with what you have written here. Outsiders are taking over this country. I know of a Mexican who came over here just to get disability and welfare for his family. I asked him why he didn't do that in Mexico and he said they couldn't get all those benefits over there. This guy is capable of working but like the easy life here in the United States better. A common story.

This is another example of one of the ongoing problems with immigration. They know they can come to the US and have life handed to them on a silver platter, while Americans suffer.
Just another reason that wall on the US-Mexico border should be built.

Now, if Clinton had won and she banned the 7 Muslim countries she would be celebrated for protecting Americans from terrorists. A lot of these pretests have been sponsored by the democrats. There was no foirst female president like the first black president. The gender card did not work and now the left recruits democrats to protest because that is all they got left. So the media is the drive to these protest rallies. If they had no live coverage on CNN and most democratic stations, they would never rally. Trump will bring jobs and increase wages because the wall will be built and monitored. A nation is no sovereign nation without borders, why mexico has a wall to keep outsiders out down south! BOO!

I am beginning to think that part of the problem with why people are demonstrating against The Donald so much is not because of his actions, but, more because they simply can not wrap their minds around the fact he actually got himself elected President.

That is the true core and root for the reason why they riot. Hillary is a corrupt politician and been in politic for decades. It was a miracle that trump won. Women expected to have the first woman president and he spoiled that. So now the world sees who the thugs are and it is not the republican party. I think the Obama administration is responsible for sponsoring riots in Chicago. They are paid. If Clinton had won there would not be riots by the republican party. I be some of these rioters will change their tune once they get cheaper rates for health care, higher wages because on less competition by aliens. We got to close the door to these terrorists and trump will make America a safer place again. Sanctuary cities harbor dangerous illegal aliens that kill US citizens. I think if trump was black there would be no riots. And I know when I went to high school that teachers would tell me that republicans are for the rich and democrats for the poor. So the root of the problem is taught in schools and colleges,sort of a brain washing technique that evolves in the brain in the subconscious. Seeded. I wondered why in hell a high school teacher would take time to brain wash me and voice her opinion and try to recruit new democrats. Obviously you must be stupid not to want more jobs, a safer USA, higher wages and much more. So it is basically about politics and that they LOST! They need hop on a train with Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Rosie Odonnel, Cher and Madonna. What are these celebrities complaining about anyways? They are rich not poor! But the democrats buy their records and watch their shows. brain washing. And you see that these big mouths are still in USA. They said that they would leave because the odds were greatly in Hillary's favor but GOD spoke!

I think the administration made its mistake mostly by not giving these countries fair warning. Some were in the air as the orders were issued. Once the confusion is cleared, maybe things will go more smoothly. People coming into the U.S. should be carefully vetted. I've seen pictures of some of the refugees fleeing, and they didn't all look like innocent mothers and children. Many looked like young men who could be potential troublemakers. We need to be careful about who gains entry and keep closer tabs on those who are already here who may have overstayed their visas. In second paragraph, do you mean "isn't it?" Excellent presentation. judi

I didn't see anyone protesting when Obama banned al MUSLIM (not countries, but a religious group) immigrants from entering the country for eleven months. Or when Carter banned all MUSLIMS for five months during the hostage crises.

Appreciate your thoughts and comments. The main problem with these terrorists is the unique fact that they seem to have targeted the United States almost exclusively for their actions. As a country we have the right to defend ourselves. As I said, I believe The Donald's ban on them migrating to the US should be permanent.
