Hi Dawn,
this is a very nice biblical poem, and the best one I have read in a long time.
It has meaning and heartfelt sentiments that most readers can relate to.
I especially enjoyed the last stanza. It sends out a glimmer of hope that if we keep our faith we will be rewarded.
Loved it.

An uplifting spiritual verse, Dawn -
words, rhythm and rhyme flowing perfectly ---

it brings to mind the hymn
He walks with us and He talks to us....

Blessings,
Margaret

That was the hymn I was first going to use - I love it! "I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses..." Thanks very much, my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Dawn. Your tenth line gave me pause and made me stumble.

"though evil will live on this Earth, we still will worship King" I would humbly suggest a change something like...

"Though evil will live on this Earth, He will remain our King"

Just a suggestion my friend. This is a beautiful poem of faith.
"The cross he bore so bravely was a symbol of His faith -
that He could win our souls for God, cast out the Devil's wraith" So true.

Beautiful sunset. xxx Nancy

Oh dear, Nancy, I DO wish I could recite it for you because again, while it's a great suggestion, it would change the meaning completely. It would be (grammatically) that it's the King who had the "sure and certain knowledge" then; (see the following line). However, I have changed it somewhat, and perhaps you'll find it smoother now. Thanks so much! You know I appreciate your feedback, always. :)

in sure and certain knowledge that a crown awaits our trials.
His love is all-encompassing; it's Satan He reviles.

These words warm my heart and make me smile - they are also harbingers of hope. Sounding more like our 'old' Dawn. THAT makes me smile, too! *smile* Thanks for this sweet reminder of the source of our faith and hope!

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure I like the "old" part - LOL.

Come on, Robyn - you know me by now. What're you gonna say when I write another chapter of one of my murder mysteries, hmmm? Or a horror poem? Hahahahaha.

Love ya. (And thanks very much.) *grinning at you*

But I'm serious about the car. (LOL)
reply by robyn corum on 03-Feb-2017
Okay, I missed something. How did we get from you being sad to me buying you a car? I'm slow, Dawn, but am I THAT slow? HELP!
reply by the author on 03-Feb-2017
A car would cheer me up. (*pouts REALLY BIG and looks innocent*...) Hahahahaha.
(I'm just pulling your leg, Robyn. I'm saying cuz you are so sweet, maybe I can hit you up for a present. :)) I'm just teasing.)

Dawn, what a lovely poem. I usually don't like real heavy Christian poems, because I am of another faith. But this was just lovely, and read aloud very well.

Your presentation is awesome as usual, girl!

Love,
jeni

I'm with you on that, actually - I've met a few 'Christians' I'd like to pummel. (LOL - I'm laughing, but I am serious, in a way - they were very insulting; assuming they had all the answers, and everyone around them didn't.) It's not like that with me. But I am inspired to write spiritual poems from time to time, and my base is Christianity.

Thanks very much! (The presentation could be improved with a variety of fonts to choose from and the way to incorporate them though...*grin*)

A very well-written soulful poem. He will never leaves us alone to wander in darkness and in pain, where we cannot walk, He will carry us when we stay by His side.

It's tough if one doesn't actually have Him revealed through the power of the Holy Spirit, He was illuminated to me all those years ago, I walked in darkness, but He came in light, oh glorious day. Well done, Dawn, beautifully scribed in deftly crafted quatrained aabb rhyming beauty, smooth and gentle, skilful, well done, blessings, Roy

It is, I'm sure, but faith walks with Him regardless I think, and heaven is still the reward.

Thank you very much. Blessings to you, too!

"Many are called, but few are chosen" Matthew, 22:13, most don't want the gift, unfortunately, Dawn, it's called free will. Blessings, Roy
reply by the author on 03-Feb-2017
? We have free will - I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. I guess what I was saying was that even though some who believe might not be 'aware' (not baptized in the Holy Spirit), I hold out hope that we will see them again anyway...? Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense - if it was family, for example...? If you are asking about me personally, yes - long ago. NYC, Bethel Temple. (But I grew up in the Trinity United Church.)
reply by royowen on 03-Feb-2017
No I don't mean "baptism in the Holy Spirit" that's something different, I only go by scripture, I'm not the one who decides and who does and who doesn't, Dawn. God says "He desires none should perish, but come to the knowledge of the truth" 2 Peter 3:9, that's why He holds back! I don't want anybody to perish either! Read Isaiah 9:27-29, Isaiah 10:22, Jeremiah 31, Revelation, 12: 17. John 3:1-21, and again Romans 10: 9-13, explains it all, Ephesians 2:8-9 binds it all together. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is what happened to the disciples in the upper room in Acts 2, they were already saved! We DECIDE, not God, He provides the way...Christ! You know and understand, you reveal that in your writing Dawn. You will probably ask me about the innocent child, the Moslems, Buddhists etc. etc....all innocent children...yes, 2 Samuel 12:23, I also believe every man, woman and child will be given a chance. God is merciful and just, that's why I serve Him! But God is not sentimental, yet He is love. Christ is the only way, the only door, Romans 3:23. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, the wages of sin is death" it's only by faith. You have faith Dawn, Eph 2. Salvation via baptism in the Holy Spirit is cultish, some churches preach that. And it's really for strengthening the believer, to bear witness, to stand. Remember Dawn, I too desire ALL should be saved. There but for the grace of God, go I! Blessings, Roy

Excellent poem about the problem of "pain and suffering" especially for "good people" as by some law, they should be except. But Jesus suffered and never promised a problem-free, pain-free life.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Nope, I never said they should be exempt - that wasn't what I meant. Nor do I think Jesus promised us a problem-free, pain-free life at all. Thanks for reviewing.
reply by lyenochka on 03-Feb-2017
I didn't mean to imply that you thought that "good people" shouldn't suffer. It's just how people generally think. So often I'd hear, "but why did such a thing happen to you?" as if I'd be exempt. It's odd but it happens. But thank God He's always with us.

Oh, you're so right, and it's because we see things like little kids with cancer, and so on - but we are promised answers when the veil lifts. :) Thanks again.
