But hey, it ain't the first time it's ever been done before. Tanka poet Yosano Akiko
was writing similar types of tanka as far back as the late 1800s and mid 1900s.
This tanka, while reading just as smoothly in reverse as it does going forward, reminded me a great deal of her work.

was writing similar types of tanka as far back as the late 1800s and mid 1900s.
This tanka, while reading just as smoothly in reverse as it does going forward, reminded me a great deal of her work.

I see you remember your class assignment well. My job is done. LOL
You are 100% right about Yosano Akiko but steamy 'lovers tanka' has been writing for centuries in Japan. As far as the 6th century. Tanka was a way to measure one's education and social status, especially in the Japanese Imperial Court. It was used by lovers as a mean of communication. The women wrote the haiku (3 first lines) and the men wrote the last two lines.
This one is a very especial tanka for my man. He wrote me a very romantic white man poem. LOL I'm kidding, it was lovely and I loved it. You know how we girls are.
I just had a thought! We should create a book and have people write lover tanka. Girls first three lines, guys the last two. What do you think? We should talk about it at the club.

I do have one suggestion--you had used the word "deep" twice. Is it possible to replace one of them with another word for variety?
