Hi Barb, thank you for lending an ear to this story that engulfed me for many years. My writing room is now my mom's former bedroom at my house. After a year of passing by several times a day, it became too sad to see her empty bed, so I converted it to my husband's office, and when I joined FS, I made it my writing cave. I think I'm channeling my mom writing this story. Thank you for being a loyal reviewer. I appreciate you!

Hi Bill, thank you for this RR&R and continued interest, as well as your kindness in commenting and assigned a SIX!. Would you believe my 'writing' room is my mom's bedroom. I moved her bed and furniture out not longer after losing her, because it was so sad to walk by it every day. It is now my writing room. I think I might be channeling her with these writings. It must be hard to keep thinking about it. I hope he found time to do a fair review of the facts. How could the car's color be so wrong in the report? That's enough right there. Look forward to the rest of the story.

Mary, it would be wonderful if you were able to solve the mystery as to your mom's accident. You bring up a point in this that I have often wondered about. Do insurance companies really pay off on uninsured motorist claims. Patricia

Hello Patricia, and thank you for this RR&R. It would certainly give us closure after all this time. It took hiring an attorney; getting deposed and then every witness and the detective being deposed when they sent the case to outside counsel in their attempt to avoid paying it. All for 50K, that was quickly eaten up in attorney fees, expenses. I can't imagine the insurance company's costs in trying to defend a case they should have paid initially. Karma delivered! Makes one wonder if the insurance companies are not using the uninsured motorist fees as a way to make money for themselves with no intention of paying without an expensive lawsuit.

I am appalled by this story. And, I give you a lot of credit for unearthing the past in theis manner. It is very interesting to say the least. I will be surprised if you get the cooperation of the police department after this case has been closed for so long. It would be nice of course, but they may fear some form of suit if they admit the report is inaccurate.
In any event, I wish you well and good luck. I will stay tuned for more.
Suggestions: "Even if turns out to be the same driver, fifteen years of a trail long quieted would be nearly impossible to prosecute. Statutes have likely run out the clock." "Even if IT turns out to be...etc..etc."

Hi Bob, I understand completely the mailbox thing. It is a stress creator for me. I feel compelled to empty it through late night reviewing, but it doesn't take long for it to replenish. My writing room is my mom's former bedroom in my home. After a year of passing by it several times a day, it was sad to see her empty bed, so I converted it to my husband's office. When I joined FS last February, I made it my writing cave. I think I'm channeling her writing this story.

As I told you, I lost my dad to a hit and run driver. Daddy was on foot.
Be prepared for your case to go nowhere. It happens all the time. Very seldom to families of hit and run or drunk drivers have any action taken after the first few hours. It's a shame, but it's the system.
I pray you get results from your attempts. 8-)
By the way, the boy driving the car my grandson was killed in walked away without a scratch. Strange, isn't it, how those things happen.

Hi Yvonne, yes I do remember that and for your to lose two family members this way is inconceivable. The year we lost mom only 8 out of 29 H&R's were solved and prosecuted. We odds like that, it is a wonder more people don't hit and run. That boy driving your grandson will have to live with the fact he was responsible for ending his life.

You're very sweet. Yes, I think it's punishment enough that young boy has to live with Andrew's death. It was basically his fault, too. He was going too fat and slid sideways on a curve into oncoming traffic. Andrew was T-boned. Small mercy is that it happened so fast, he didn't know what was happening. That was seventeen years ago.

Right. It gets easier with time, but it never goes away, as I'm sure you know. I practically raised this boy until he was school age.
