A very well-written prose poem. You seem to travel quite a bit in your dreams. Out of many girls, the one who asks you to open the jar is the one who stole your heart.

What will tomorrow bring? We will just have to wait and see. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

A fine poem about the Women's March on Washington after Trump's Inauguration. I enjoyed your imagery and energy:

"Figures in a fog. Swords and sticks and exploding things. Convictions and convincing hand in hand as mankind scurries along the woodwork of the landscape drawing lines and planting flags."

I can see and feel this.

This line resonated with me politically and poetically, "Kingdoms are garish things, loud and without flourish."

I found enchanting your closing image of a girl handing you a jar to open. This image is the reverse of Pandora's Box. Voices trill in brilliant song as a billion women smile.

Thank you for sharing your Shangri La vision.

I am wondering if the subject here is actually a dream or an imagined response to the political climate of Inauguration Day?It has a feeling of the vastness of humanity
and is still entertaining with the veils and referring to Kings, and off to Shangra La...

I am thrilled you were able to write about this in a timeless way. It has plenty of worth without the marches in mind. Besutiful, Michael. NG

Hello, Michael,

Figures in a fog. Swords and sticks and exploding things. .... I don't know why but this phrase made me think of .... ''Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails, That's what little boys are made of. What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice and all things nice, That's what little girls are made of."

I like how you used blue and pink for male and female.

Figures in a fog, is obviously about the riots back east on inauguration day. Today I participated on a peaceful demostration at the State Capitol. I painted a red sign with a swastika and the words ''never again'' also a quote.. "He who doesn't understand history is doomed to repeat it." ... Those who don't learn, or can't remember it, are doomed to repeat it." ...

Germany in the 1930s lived to regret that they directly helped a sociopath like Hitler harm millions of people. We got us another hitler, only ours doesn't have a brain.

A news reporter took a picture of my sign and asked for my name. I may be on the news tonight. hahaha

I love it, Micheal.

This is fabulous, Mikey. I'm so glad I decided to check out the potlatch this week! So many fantastic entries, not the least of which is yours. I started to copy favorite lines, but where to start and where to end? The bit about greasy beards was great, rather Bacchanalian...the grease and grapes. The last stanza though, really stopped me in my tracks - the billion women winking. So much said in that line, truly :)))

Beautiful prose poem, Mav. Yes the voices of the 2.5 million women from around the world were heard today and let us hope they are listened to and not summarily dismissed as the spoils of politics. That would be a huge mistake. Some excellent lines, for example Flags bear no fruit, nor do spore spring from barren land.

And an amazing ending. The loveliest girl in the world hands you a jar. In that simple act of caring love and kindness from a man a billion women smile.

I just love this one and I'm thinking I very much love this prose poetry form.

Exceptional potlatch offering but you know the rules. Weeeeeee. Welcome to Shangri La.
