Aw, how sweet Sandra. Sometimes dreams do come true.
This is a lovely story and one older than time. How
parents can disown a child for loving the wrong person is beyond me. Great Heptameter and aabb rhyme. Well done.xoxo Nancy

Oh my lady, this is absolutely wonderful in flow and rhyme. The story line is excellently done and the whole piece is worthy of more than a six. Very well done

I always love a story with a happy ending. And this is a well written series of aabb rhymed quatrains. A tale of romance. Intolerance, and redemption. The cadence was smooth. It flowed well. A sweet ending.

This is a lovely story poem, Sandra.
Status is still important to many, causing this unfortunate situation to still exist.
How a parent can disown his/her child is beyond me.
Fine rhyming quatrains.
A most enjoyable post.

Thank you, Ellen, I'm glad you liked it. Yes, I don't understand that either, I couldn't disown my children for wanting to be with someone they loved. Some even murder their daughter for the 'shame and dishonor' it brings the family. So cruel.

A very good poem with a happy ending. You employ good rhyming throughout. The meter is excellent. Too bad this isn't a contest entry.

A very well-written romantic poem. The heart fall in love with whoever it fancy, it does not ask about status and age, and love that gies through trouble and and still stand together can be seen as true love.

Not many romantics left
Comment from Lloyd T. Okoko
The objective correlative of the poem reminisces a secret love affair between a man of humble background and a high class lady.
The work highlights the secret outings of the lovers, their unfortunate stigmatisation as social outcasts, and the eventual blossoming of their heart's desire occasioned by the benevolence of the Duchess.
The work constitutes a significant commentary that gives credence to the fact that "when one door closes, another door opens".
Excellent work! Bravo!
