Oh, I'm so glad the story has a happy ending. It sounded quite dire for a while. This is a nicely romantic poem with good rhythm and rhyme. Illustration is gorgeous. Marilyn

Hi, Marilyn. Thank you so much, It had to have a nice ending, there are too many forced marriages, even today. I made sure my couple had a friend in high places! LOL. I'm glad you like it. Thanks my friend. :) Sandra. xx

Thank you, my dear friend. I was 'chatting' to Dawn about how far behind I was. When you fan hundreds of people, you get hundreds in your message box. Some have to be left. She agreed, I think we are all like that. Thanks, my friend, for reviewing this when it was out of time. Big hugs. xxx Sandra x

I love your story poems, Sandra, and this one certainly isn't an exception. We all love happy endings, and you've delivered this one with style.
It must have been hard to marry for love back in those days, so thank goodness for the Duchess!
So glad I have a six left.

Such a beautiful love poem and story. It has always saddened me the old ways in which money had to marry money and love be damned. Marriage is all about love, money is a secondary consideration. People can always work and earn a living.
The old ways put so much pressure on everyone.
What a lovely ending, a modern woman, helping out the couple so in love, sigh, sniff.
You are as amazing a poet as you are a writer.

I'm afraid it is still happening in some quarters, Lu, it's so sad. Thank you so much for the lovely review, my friend. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one. Big hugs. Sandra xx

What a lovely story you have penned in the form of a poem! It was quite engrossing - had to read it to the end to see what happened to this young couple. The words flowed nicely as they painted a picture of possible tragedy that ultimately was avoided due to the generosity of the Duchess. Well done. I enjoyed the read.

This is just superb. What a lovely and well written story in this remarkably rhymed poem. This is outstanding and calls for a publisher. I love the Duchess!!

Sandra, your choice of picture is so beautiful and adds to this excellent piece of poetry. There are times when we men of lesser value will find the gem that is out of our reach. But, in this wonderful poem telling a story of love between a young lady and a worker boy. What was going well, then they are found and banished. Fortunately, a renowned Duchess takes them in to allow their love to grow. Such a very poignant piece of poetry. Well done my friend! I hope all is well with you and your family Sandra. Love you,,,,,,,,Jim

Hi Jim, thank you so much for this lovely review. I haven't been writing much lately just come on now and again. I have three members of my family with cancer now, and spend a lot of time between them all. The terrible thing is, two of them are mums in their 30s and it's so hard on the family. I am writing when I can, it helps to calm my mind, fantasy is a wonderful place to lose your thoughts in. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one, my friend. Love you too. Sandra xx
Comment from Dawn Munro
See? There was absolutely no sane reason for these two to be kept apart, for a father to banish his beloved daughter. And what about friends? They never were, were they...what a gorgeously romantic poem, my friend. (I am SO behind!!! Sorry for rushing.)
