Hi. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom seven and a half years ago. People say it gets easier with time, but it really doesn't. You will always remember your mom, but time does go on, and life continues. If you ever need to talk, feel free to send me a message. God bless you in all you do, my friend.

    Cheryl-Lynette,

I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. The loss of one's mother is beyond the scope of pain I believe anyone can bear. I still cry at times and will continue and know in time the tears may or may not cease. There is a special bond between a mother and her children. I have always had health issues, but I recall of this one time, my mother saw that I was in so much pain; I will never forget her words she said, "I wish I could bear this pain for you," and I watched as the tears flowed down her face. She was always there for all her children.

Thanks my friend for your review, very kind words and support, it is an honor and blessing to have you as a friend. Lots of love...Portia

Thank you for your heartfelt expressions of gratitude. True, the love, support, and creativity offered by writers on FanStory is phenomenal. They helped me when I was grieving the loss of both parents in rapid succession. There are a lot of people hurting on this site, trying their best to express their griefs over various losses and setbacks. I always try to focus on the friendships and relationships on this site. Put people first. I remember your advice, "To the many who still have their mother, spend as much time as you can and show her nothing but love and kindness. A mother should never be forgotten and feel she is all alone." Indeed.

Thank you for sharing. I loved that "Ripples" poem. I am sorry for your loss. I have been there myself in recent years.

    Sis Cat,

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your parents. I cannot begin to fathom the scope of losing both parents right behind one another. The outpour of love, prayers and support from the many writers on FanStory helped ease the pain and hurt felt in my heart. Your are correct in saying there are some many who are hurting on this site, which is the main reason I joined. The loss of my sister who was the poet was the reason I joined the site in 2012. I never wrote poetry, nor did I have the desire to do so. Yet, after her passing I have been unable to put the pen down. Thank you for your prayers, kindness and support they are greatly appreciated and will always be remembered. Blessings and lots of love.....Portia

Same here, Portia. I did not have a desire to write poetry until both of my parents died and left me hundreds of poems. When my pen ran out of ink yesterday, I picked up my iPhone and kept writing. It must never stop. Thank you for your condolences and encouragement.

Portia, thank you so much for this tribute to the Fanstory family. I'm still too new to know all those you mentioned. But I first learned about your Mom from Judy's poem and as the Lord reminds have offered prayers for your comfort during this difficult time. It is such a blessing to find such support especially in the Lord, here. <3

    Helen,

I have been on the site since 2012 and the many who reached out with prayers, love and concern I didn't know. What I do know is that we are a Family and when one of our members are hurting we all try to reach out and show love and support. You stepped right in and offered your prayers, genuine concern and kindness which will always be remembered. Thank you my friend for your review, and support. Lots of love......Portia

What a Beautiful Writing Portia.
I have read many Thank You Letters and Cards over the years and this one you have composed has to be tops.
This "Thank You" comes from the Heart and is filled with Compassion...Spirituality...and...Love.

I have a Scripture that is a favorite of mine and it reads:
"The Spirit and the Body are the Soul of Man".

One can not be Whole with just Spirit or with just Body.
To be Complete and have Soul you have to Join the Spirit and Body.

As I have watched you grow since I joined FanStory I can tell you that you have completed that Spirituality...You Have Soul...Q.T...Phil.

    Phil,

You truly have a way with words. Your kindness and support always help build the confidence I lack in myself. I often find it very difficult to express myself the way I did in the letter of Thanks to all. Thank you for your kind words of support and reassurance.

Last week I was reflecting on many things. As I was thinking about mom, tears were rolling down my face, immediately some advice came to mind you had given me; you said, "Its time to move on and let everything else go." These may not be your exact words but at that moment and time last week, I finally faced reality that all the things mom endured is no longer to be remembered, she is at peace, the past is the past and cannot be changed. I must move forward and not dwell on the negative and continue to show love even when it is not returned. Yes, I still cry but they are tears of joy of the good times, memories and loved we shared. I have never shared the story behind the bond and love I had with my mom but God knows. Thanks my dear friend for your friendship, prayers, love and kindness. Blessings.....Portia

Portia,
I read both Irish Rain and RGStar's poems written for you, to honour you and the loss of your beloved mother. Both poems were beautiful and written with a great deal of love.

I know your mom is in a better place, no longer suffering and I am sure you miss her so much. You have a beautiful heart and soul and a gentle grace.

Know that people here do care about you. It is funny how people can form a bond even when they have not met face to face yet I have not stopped thinking about you since your mother passed. I hope you are doing alright and taking care of yourself.

Please know I am one message away, anytime. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Sending you a great big ((((hug)))),
Love Lu

    Lu,

Thank you for your love and kindness. There are days when I can't help but cry, but I know mom is at peace and in a better place. The tears now are tears of joy and sadness. Sad because she is missed dearly. Tears of joy because of the memories that I hold so dear in my heart.
Lu, I have always had many health issues, but in 2010, mom and I were both ill. She had breast cancer and I had a bowel obstruction (one of many) She overcame the cancer and radiation treatments life a champ. Her last check-up last year in September, indicated she was cancer free.
In 2011, I had another bowel obstruction, I was in a great deal of pain, my mother said to me " I wish I could bear that pain for you," and tears began to roll down her face. A mother's love for her children is like none other.

Actually Lu, I have been in the bed resting since Wednesday. I thought my Crohn's disease was acting up, I had become weak and dehydrated. I have a great relationship with my Cancer Specialist doctor, I called her she allowed me to come in for
I V fluids, blood work, and a stool culture. I should know the results on tomorrow. (I had colon cancer at a very young age and in 1994 all of my colon was removed except an inch -- Yea!!! I am a survivor - Cancer free)
My plans were to take a few days off from the site, but I had to write this letter of Thanks.

Thanks my dear friend for being such a loving and kind friend, and sweetie I needed that great BIG HUG. Lots of love....Portia

That is a beautiful letter you wrote to us who reviewed the poems and expressed our condolence on the loss of your mother. It's ok that my name wasn't mentioned, but I did write a note. I remember telling you that my mother died long ago but I know how it feels to lose a mother. Only those who have lost their mother know how it feels. But, i hope for you by now you feel her spirit and can talk to her in the spirit world. After my mother died I went back to teaching, which was my first profession, and my mothers. When I got stuck in any situation I would "channel" my mother. She always came through for me. I was a better teacher after my mother died and I think I owed it to my love for her and the memory of what a great teacher she was. May your mother's spirit live on for you each waking moment. Regards, Kathleen aka nancyrabbrose

    Kathleen,

Please forgive me for not mentioning your name, the fact that you messaged me with kind and comforting words of support and shared with me about the loss of your mother will always be remembered. After the reading of the poem "Ripples," by RGstar, I received so many messages of condolence from members on the site. Please know I appreciate you reaching out to me with words of comfort, love and kindness. And again, I am deeply sorry for your loss, for a mother's love is like no other. Thank you for your advice, my mother and I had a very close relationship. She was a very strong woman, survived Breast Cancer and was just told in September of last year she was Cancer free. So, now when I think of mom (for I have health issues) , I will channel in on her strength and the love we shared. Thanks so much for your kindness and support. Blessings....Portia
