This winter tanka, Your Scent Lingers Here, has the proper set up and sets the scene for a departed love who may be on the way off or back, but is definitely missed. Nice.

Bravo you. This creates such a melancholy sadness as the chill of lost love sets in. The last line lets us know the loneliness is just settling in. cheers, judester

This is a very romantic and dreamy tanka. A world apart from someone so loved and longed for. Very, very lovely. Good luck in the contest :-))
Reads beautifully forwards and backwards!

This is a cool tanka. I like the repeated image of the sprinkling - the daydreams on the bed, and the footprints in the snow. Very nice. Good luck in the contest!

O-h-h-h-hhhhhh... I really liked this, Anonymous Poet.
There is a warmth implied here in your stunning tanka, but a lingering sadness as well. I read recently the the mark of a truly great tanka is completely dependent upon well-expressed simile and metaphorical imagery, and an amazing "pivot" line. It should read just as eloquently in reverse as it reads normally.
Your tanka evokes great sadness yet hope still lingers; like the scent of honeysuckle lingers sweetly on a warm summer's day after a tumultuous storm.
I'll be watching for THIS one when it hits the booth.
Best of luck to you, a very strong entry indeed.
I deeply apologize for my lack of sixes. This deserves nothing less...
