This is great, Barbara, I love hearing about the artwork, and the chapter is interesting. I wonder what "Ivan" would want to have placed on the painting? Some kind of a tracking device? Strange that they would be interested in the smaller painting without gold leaf.
"Anderson tried to move closer. That man's way too close. What's he doing?"
This confused me just a bit. Maybe you could say, "Anderson tried to move closer, but another man was standing very close to the painting.." ? Just a thought.

Given that I graduated with a master's degree in art history, Barbara, I found your art sleuthing story engaging. I have visited the MET and can imagine myself trying to track down the owner of a painting. Your story taps into a fantasy many art historians have. Your story has an adventure, romance, detective qualities of the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark." We are on a quest for a Holy Grail of sorts.

Hi Barbara. A really fascinating part two (zwei). Anderson's italicized 'thoughts' are extremely effective. I like the way the device introduces the reader to the size of Klimt's works. This softens the "cold hard fact" approach that some writers would employ and informs in a a more natural way. Had to smile when Anderson thinks that Ivan Morozov may be involved. He was not to know that Morozov died in 1921 :-) Great write. Cheers - DJ

Thank you for the kind review. I just researched male Russian first names and then did the same for last names and put the two together. I never knew this was a real person. How funny. I guess I had better change his name.

Yep. Morozov was a Russian art collector but never owned Litzlberg am Attersee. It was stolen by the Nazis from a woman called Amalie Redlich (who was later killed in Poland). It was bought by a Salzburg art dealer called Friedrich Welz... the history goes on. All tiny points when taken out of context but the purists will swoop on it. It is currently owned by the modern art museum MdM Salzburg. Worth changing the catalogue details as well as Ivan's surname methinks. Sorry. still love the write :-) DJ

I have changed Ivan's last name. I was completely accidental that I came up with that name. I am wondering about changing the art piece now. When I researched it said there were more than one Litzberg am Attersee. At least one for each season, and few more. I figured I was safe. I figure I better do more research.

Anderson can't get away from the guys who've been tailing Shana. He hopes to find the paintings and see why the Russians are so interested, but there the guys are. He's been so careful that Shana would be found at his apartment, but they stop at nothing. Apparently, it's not the painting itself that has their attention, but something that's in or on it. Should be interesting to find our what it is. Great work, and I really love this story. this is a great story. judi

Suspense is definitely building as Anderson sees the painting everyone is fussing about. Ivan couldn't get something on the painting.
We'll have to wait and see.
