Good Afternoon, Kar,
I ike your well penned haiku. You've well captured an observable moment in time--no desk haiku, present tense and a great satori. If I had any suggestion at all it would be to tighten up the satori line to just say yoga.
A great entry for the haiku bird challenge!

Bahahahahahaha! Herons doing yoga... Love it! Disciplined herons, no less. And in the morning! Nice detail. When else would disciplined herons do their yoga? But why three? THAT is the mystery...

Hey, Ant! LOL thanks for your wonderful review and comments for my herons. There's three of them because that's the logo and the name of the company who has used some of my haiku on notecards and this year's calendar. 3heronsart is the name of her business. Thanks for sneaking into FS and your kind response. I love your feedback.
Smiles,
Kazz :-)

You've made it onto notecards and a calendar???!!! I didn't realise you're rich and famous. I shall be more careful with my comments in future... :) Good for you. xx

Lovely haiku and lovely picture! I love the graceful pose of the three herons (though in real life they never hang around each other.) Then we move from an image of birds to a surprising yoga pose in the last line. Is there such a pose?

Cool about the artist. Thank you for sharing your haiku. I love the way you put the words together to form the bird haiku. I'm trying to imagine herons doing yoga! LOL (I mean the lotus position)

This is a nicely done haiku, very much in the traditional Japanese form. you have the great nature image, the strict 5-7-5 syllable counts, and that great last line lifting the image into the spiritual, the philosophical. It doesn't get much better than this. estory

I never thought of it but that's exactly what they look like. Sarasota Sunken Gardens has a Heron pond. The birds standing on one leg look just like a yoga class.

IndianaIrish, this is really very good and very clever. Great and appropriate picture. Your lines one and two interconnect perfectly and your line three is a great satori. The best haiku I've read so far, and I've read quite a few. Excellent addition to the book. I should add, written in perfect 5/7/5 form. x Warm regards Dorothy
