You deliver a beautifully executed nature haiku in true traditional form. It is quite punny to boot. Nicely done and I thank you very much for sharing it.

Thanks.

Now this old bird is so ugly that it would have to sneak up on its mate, in the dark. But its eyes are as intense as any I have ever seen, which makes me suspect this feathered fowl looking so freaky is a very intelligent breed. Great job. :-)

Oh my goodness--look at that face. What a charmer with blue eyes--my fav. Oh yes, I like your haiku about him, too. Great alliteration in line one. "Fowl looks" another good one and finally "silent tweetment." Fun all the way through. Marilyn

You are the most entertaining writer I've met/read on this site, King Kuch! You won a sixth star from me due to your use of "tweetment", a new word...ashoe tweetment, ha! The other reason is due to your incredible author notes and pictures! Your family and friends are lucky, King Kuch! Treat them well!

Hello, JW.
I apologize for my delay in getting back to you concerning your review. I'm really glad you enjoyed the playfulness with the words, LOL.
I'd never seen a shoebill stork until I watched a recent documentary on the BBC network. I was so fascinated by this prehistoric looking bird that I knew I had to write about them.
So... I did.:)
Thanks for the fantastic feedback and the six stars.
I really do appreciate it.

Dean,
Did you really say 'silent tweetment'? Really? HAHAHAHAHA! That brought a huge smile to my sad face. I broke my foot Sunday (yes, only me!) and have not been in a super mood since then. Your poem was a day brightener! Thanks!

So sorry to hear about you beakin' your foot. Why'd ya wanna go and do a thing like that for?
Thanks for the review.
Stork Hugs!

I have never heard of, and I'm certain, I've never seen a photograph of this bird. How wonderful to learn about something new. Your Haiku is fun (loved that double entendre with fowl/foul looks.)
There's not much that would take on a crocodile - baby or otherwise - because I know that mama crocks DO protect their young.
The bird can't help how it looks - In a way, it is cute.
Loved this write, Dean.
Rose.

What a fascinating and 'beautiful' bird. You could have taken this in a completely different direction but, instead, you made me grin. I would love to see one up close and personal. Love their voice. Excellent work with this haiku, brilliantly written. Sorry, but I am out of 6's already, or I would give you one for this.

I love to learn about different animals. I enjoyed your haiku. I haven't heard of this bird before. Giving the background of the bird is more in lighting. Nicely done

I have just shown my husband the video and your authors notes, neither of us have ever seen or heard of them. I thought they were really cute the way they bowed to the men. But, saying that, after reading your authors notes, I think I will stay away from them. Not that I intent to go to the swamps of eastern tropical Africa any time soon. Your Haiku was very well worded, Dean, and all in all, haiku and authors notes, and video a pleasure to read and view. :) Sandra xxx
