Hello, lovely Sandra,

Loved the memories that returned, of my Sunday School days, as I read.

We saw the glow shine in her eyes, the soft smile on her face--
and we knew as we looked at her--she walked in God's embrace. .. love these lines. They have such a ring of truth. I think most of these wonderful women never married and gave their whole lives to serving God.

Thrilled to see how well your novel has been doing. Proud of you! Hugs and love,

Sonali xx

Hi my dear, Sonali, thank you for this lovely review. I used to love her and other missionaries coming to out Sunday School to tell us their stories. It's something that stays with you throughout your life.

My novel began as a short 4 part story, but the reviewers told me it could go further and so I went for it. I was gobsmacked how popular it was, it won the BoM 5 times, and came 2nd once. I'm over the moon. Now I hope to get it ready over the next few weeks/months to send to some agents in the hope one will accept it.

Biggest ever hugs, my friend, I'm sooooo happy you are back again. :))
    Lots of love! Sandra xxxx

So lovely a poem and a tribute, Sandra, to all those missionaries who influenced you as a young child. The image you've chosen to accompany this is wonderful, and almost reminds me of my mother. The glow shine in her eyes, the soft smile on her face--... Simply lovely image.

Thank you, Mary! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was so taken with the photo of the lady, her face and eyes did shine through like a woman who walked with God. Your mother must be a lovely lady, my friend. Thanks again, for this lovely review. :) Sandra xxx

Happy New Year My Friend. I like your new profile picture and love the poem. Great Title!

"Her hair was silver, flecked with gold, her eyes were emerald green,
her mind filled with the memories of good things she had seen.
She had a tranquil aura--a soft gentleness so rare,
and emanated love and joy to everybody there. "

Excellent Imagery there!

Happy new Year!

A beautiful memory so well conveyed for us to share. What a sweet picture and enthralling story. What a hard life these people lead and never a complaint. Thanks for letting us be there too.

Thank you, Linda. It's funny how something can bring back a memory for way back. I've remembered her and her stories, all my life. Such innocent carefree days. I'm really pleased you liked how I wrote about her. They really are special people aren't they. Biggest hug, my dear friend. Love you loads! :) Sandra xxx

Outstanding poem, Sandra. Your images in the first stanza are crystal. very well done. I especially liked this stanza though:

"We all sat very quietly, expectant and beguiled--
while she told stories of her trips to every spellbound child.
She'd travelled far throughout her life to spread God's holy word,
and went to places no one knew, with names we'd never heard."

Is the picture of any particular missionary?

Blessings, Bob

Aww, thank you, Bob. I must be getting old, some of my memories go way back, nice memories, but I can't remember what day it is today! How weird is that! Thank you again, for this lovely review, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

Hi Sandra, this is what you are so good at, to tell a wonderful story within a poem, and to paint a wonderful picture with your words. I Love it. Hugs. Ulla xxx

Missionaries are of course still active today from all the proselytizing faiths. not all of them as holy as your memories bear witness. that they have led interesting lives I would not dispute and that they have evangelical fervour that can spellbind a child but, like any other group not all are without sin, even some of the Christian ones. I have a deep distrust of religiosity, but that does not detract from the craftsmanship that lies behind this poem.

I know exactly what you are saying, Jim. I stopped going to a long time ago because of the hypocrisy within the walls of my church There will always be those that go to church just to create a false image and, unfortunately there have always been people who join the church for evil purposes. So, yes, I agree with you. But, there are also some lovely people with hearts of gold. Okay, that out of the way, thank you for the lovely compliment about the writing of the poem. It's funny how a memory will suddenly flash back. I was watching a television programme that featured charity workers going to countries to try and help, and I remembered this lady as clear as yesterday. Thanks Jim! :) Sandra xxx

A very well-written story/poem. They have many uplifting stories to tell from their life experiences bad as well as the good. We mostly heard about the good.

Thank you for reading my poem, Sandra. Yes, I'm sure they had some horrific experiences too. They are a special group of people who do this. :) Sandra

Your interesting poem and memorable account of a lecture by a missionary, brings back memories of one we had at school when I was young. We learned of all sorts of things from all over the world. In those days this was all new to us, like another world.

Well written and a compelling read, thank you Sandra...
