The form you have chosen can be difficult because it restricts word choice and can give a contrived effect. This does not occur in your poem and the words are all appropriate to the poem's message. The message I get from this poem is that we all wear masks in a way, yet for the right person who loves us we take off the mask.

Thank you for your insightful review - that's exactly the gist my poem. It takes that special person that we can trust our heart with- for us to be open enough to remove our masks.

You speak so much truth in this poem -- life is a circus. I love the reference to masks. Most people wear masks, hiding their true colors or pretending all is fine.

This is profound and thought-provoking poem.

Your usage of circus as a metaphor is brilliant! I wish I would have thought of it. Great job, poet.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Deserves more than six stars, and I'll tell you why.
You wrote a lovely poem that bears no sign of any compromise made to the requirements of the ABC format, as so often is the case with other writers. It's as if you decided, "Oh, okay, I'll do It that way," and wrote the poem, not needing to think about the ABC's, just as a comfortably bi-lingual person transitions to another language reflexively. I would have awarded "Life Is a Circus" six stars on a free verse basis alone.

Thank you for your in-depth review of my poem. I was mesmerized by the simplicity and innocence of the art work. And then it all came together for the ABC poem. I truly appreciate the exceptional rating - and your insight. I am actually bilingual...

Everyone presents a different facade in life The real person within can be hidden by life's mask. Everyone waits for that special person to give their heart to.

June, this is a beautiful poem and it is a lot like out lives,. God comes to us and peels away the mask we wear to keep others for seeing us for who we are. But, thankfully when the masks are gone, we are much more comfortable in our own skin, Patricia

Thanks again for your insights. We all have our masks and reveal our true selves only to those whom we feel we can trust.

Nice writing. It certainly describes that life of a circus performer as far as I know. It also desc Ives the person who is hiding behind a mask. Well done! Drew
