Gloriously sensuous language in this poem! You have penned an irresistible temptress here. Loved the descriptions of green (Greengage, and Gimlet coloured). The Gimlet was a much favoured drink when I was living in the Far East, refreshing but, like Lilith, dangerous!

Wow! Your author notes are amazing and second best to your beautiful poem.

"Take all of me" are Ella Fitzgerald's song words....take all of me, are perfect for your poem.

Well done my friend.

You certainly captured the darkness of this creature, especially with the forked tongue. Great imagery and descriptions. It is a creature I hope to stay far away from.

thankyou so much for your kind review.I was actually advised by a rival poet 'friend' to remove the forked tongue line...that is what brings home the supernatural aspect. Thankyou so much Meia :)

You're welcome. No, no - don't remove it. That's part of the great description

I had no intention of removing it, she is suppose to be a close friend and I know she is worried about beating me in the rankings so that was a calculated move-shame, I thought she was a decent lady but I know she knows very well what she is doing. Thankyou for your very kind words xx

It is a shame when people will resort to such things. The good thing is you see through it and are not falling for it.

This brought Lilith to mind as I read through it so it was no surprise you mention her in your notes. You really use imagery masterfully to create both a scene and a strong sense of physical action. Nicely done and thank you very much for sharing it.

You paint a very compelling picture with your well chosen and accurately placed words. As a man I admit that I have had my own encounter with a modern day Lilith. I barely survived and have not been the same since. Some may pooh, pooh her existence, but I tell you she lives within the hearts of certain women and these women have devastated many men. I know, as I stated I am a lucky survivor and I have the scars to prove it.

Hi Meia,

I really enjoyed the descriptiveness of this piece. Your penchant for color and the detail you've taken with this poem are evident. The author's notes are a nice touch, too.
I couldn't choose one favorite; every description using the element of color caught my eye.

Good job.

Quite the evil lady you created here. Extremely vivid imagery and wonderful descriptions.
"You carefully picked through all the colours of nature to set off your painful beauty "
Really good!

A very intense poem about a mortal man becoming taken in by the evil spirit, Lilith. You see how many people, male or female, can pursue something self-destructive, like drugs, alcohol, or even tobacco, that they know leads them to death, and yet they can't help but follow it.

Great job,

Rhonda

Your descriptions are powerful! I also appreciate all your notes. I didn't know that was the meaning of "lilith" but "laila" does mean "night" in Hebrew so it's related. Great use of repetition to strengthen the power of being intoxicated.
