Karyn, This is a beautiful haiku you have penned about Ireland. You used very good descriptive wording and very good imagery. Blessings, Teri

Hi
Happy New Year, may you be well.
Ah, Ireland,
you gave the reader a picture of Ireland as well as the emotion of a (perhaps) a traveller or expat returning...
well done

A pleasant feeling arises from reading your words. The image of the green patchwork is a soothing one and your poem creates a clear picture of nature with feelings.

A great haiku for the earth challenge. A beautiful and vibrant picture you have painted. A view from high above of the lush green countryside. Farms and rolling hills creating a beautiful earthen quilt blanketing the earth. Love that satori as I bet that would be a welcomed site. Best wishes.

I read an anthology footnote Yeats was talking about Ireland when he said "That
is no country for old men." looks like a four six three, suitable for Haiku. Excellent.

I've never been to Ireland. It looks beautiful. Another place to add to my bucket list. Your haiku makes me want to visit. Nice work. Happy New Year!

My maternal grandmother was born in Ireland and 3 out of 4 of my grandparents were Irish--so this poem has a built-in appeal to me. While I've never been to the island, I've seen many photos of the patchwork-like fields and found your description of Ireland "spot-on."

I know the last line of a haiku is to have more meaning--I've read there are about 4 million Irish who call Ireland their home--and about 30 million Americans that claim heritage to Ireland. Your line "welcome home" mirrors the sense in many to visit their ancestor's birthplace.

well done.

Excellent. My mother's ancestors are from Ireland and I have always wished to go there. I doubt that I ever will but the desire is there. All the pictures I have ever seen of Ireland are beautiful, including this one. Good work.

You had me at Ireland first, then Indiana...my maternal grandparents hailed from the Emerald isle, and I was born in Fort Wayne :)

Beautiful photo, and the reference to a patchwork (quilt) brought it all home.

Thank you very much, Mary, for your kind review and comments for my haiku. I appreciate your tKing the time to read and share your thoughts. I'll be going to Fort Wayne in April to visit a high school friend. I've been there a few times and loved taking my kids to their wonderful kid zoo when they were young.

Awesome! You have been missed as many of the haiku flying around lack your simplicity and integrity of form. This is beautifully penned with your usual profoundly subtle satori finish. Nicely done and I thank you very much for sharing it.
