Ugh, this is TRUE horror. I've seen all too much in my life.

How is it that drunkenness so often goes hand in hand with the hurting?

Really well-written, and a wonderful entry in the contest. No technical issues I can see.

Good luck.

I really don't know what to say in this review. It's
filled with issues our society continues to deny.
The kids I have counseled with abuse never seem
to overcome it. Those who are now adults continue
to report to me how they remain traumatized. Thank
you, I think, for this powerful message. -Bill

Writing about stuff like this sucks. I had a polar bear I use to sleep with that I won out of a claw machine. I lost him on my way to Virginia and I now have a teddy bear that I keep close by. I may not use it anymore but I think it's still the security of it. Great job

Terrorizing a child comes in many forms, all of which leave lifetime scars. Excellent entry for this contest. Sadly, the subject is one I can relate to. I wish you all the best in this contest.

Thanks, Smurph. I know your story. Something one never forgets. Wonder if that's true of Alzheimer's patients?

Oh dear, strong words and images in here, and to think that this cruelty happens in real life. It's no fiction, oh no. I wish I could say something positive in here. I am sorry.

There is no positive in child abuse and cruelty of parents. Thank God, I was never a victim.

Gee, Shari....

Dear Shari:

Dear Shari...

I hardly know how to reply to your poem. At first I was so happy to see that you posted and your new picture....Love it! My first thought was to laugh at the title, and then on second thought, it brought back memories best left to die in the rubble of old dead weeds... Seems like I have to start how to learn how to use this computer all over again, I haven't been here in so long LOL~

My blessings and love is with you always,
Nan:))

My love and best to you always,
Nan:))

Thanks so much for the six, Nan. Appreciate the comment on my updated picture. I thought learning to use the computer was like learning to ride a bike. You never forget it. LOL

Hey, I not only have to learn to use this computer again, and as far as riding a bike, I never did that either, nor rode a horse of jumped out of an airplane without a parachute, lol!

Oh, Boy...tell me about it!
I know this well, It never leaves a memory. Some have ridden it well, some not so fortunate. A frightening and sad place to be.
Poignant write.
My best wishes,
Have a great Christmas.

A well-written contest entry. Your words flowed well line to line combining easily and forming the message of the poem for the reader. I think you completed the challenge of the contest well

Says so much what many children have to endure. Very sad but a statement that needs to be said. I can see why this was recognized. Well done!

Thanks, Marianne. Horror it is--one that can make killers out of their grown children. Monkey see, Monkey do.

Hi
this is horror...becasue all of the nastiness is left up to the imagination, and it makes me shudder(I remeber the feeling of terror I haad of the shadow of the father in Red Flyer...I think that was the name of the movie) anyway your poem gave me the same feeling
Well done!
