Beautiful Buddhistic poem. I enjoyed the deeply contemplative tone and style Reminds me of the phrase 'buddha in the palmn of you hand. Also reminds me of the great teaching when Buddha sat in front of all the Bhikkus (monks). He sat in silence and held up a single bloomed flower. Only one monk 'got it'.

Very fine alliteration of B. I like the word choices of ardently and diligently and gently.
nice bonus rhyme of flies and dies.

NIce assonance of I as well...especially in arrives and alights, which also share alliteration.

Fine phonetic resonance read aloud.

Love the closing the best:

It arrives from nowhere and
Alights gently on your palm.

Love the Eastern overtone and depth. Not all readers will 'get' this. Arriving from nowhere is an oriental or Eastern concept. Shunyata is real bliss.

Om Shanti

Ananadam!~

Warmly, rd

Rama Devi: I can't express my joy of reaching to someone who knows the subtlety of thoughts hidden within the written words. It is the extension of a philosophy called in Sanskrit, " Nishkam Karmayog" which is expanded in the Bhagwat Geeta by Krishna. He explains," In this material world, we, the spiritual beings are born to fulfil the results of our past karma and to be free of rebirth; one has to go through life doing all that we must do, without attachment to the outcome of our acts."
I appreciate your comments and thanks. "Ohm Mani Padme Ohm."

Thanks for your gracious reply. Yes, my life has been dedicated to nishkama karama yoga...desire-less action---I do seva in Amma's hospital in India and have lived in India for 28 years!~ Have you heard of Amma? www.amritapuri.org. Have read Gita many times and studied a bit of Sanskrit too. :) So nice to see an FS friend who know Gita and mantras. We are a minority here. Viveka and vairagya are the way to go for sure.

Hello Rama Devi: Good to hear from you. I have heard about Amma but I am not a follower. I follow my own path because of my faith in the teachings of Buddha and Vedanta. In the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism, one of the two paths,(Jiriki-Work out your own Path to salvation and Tariki- Salvation with the assistance of outside power) are recommended to achieve Bodhisattva status. I prefer Jiriki and working on the discovery of True Knowledge leading to freedom. Your 28 years in India must have been very fulfilling. You are fortunate to have such opportunity to travel and seek what you wanted to find. I am not free to do that; I have to fulfil my obligations to my family and can't always do what I desire. Best regards. If you wish to exchange information, discuss any topic of mutual interest you may right to me via e-mail(niyuta@aol.com).
    Pranam.

Thanks for sharing, Arun., AMma's ultimate teaching is Vedanta (through the ladder of Bhakti) I am also fond of the formless and vedanta the most. :)
Yes, I was lucky to find Amma early, so I became a brahmachaini at a young age and could live so alternatively, never marrying or having family.

Dear Rama Devi: Thanks for your reply. I believe each person has a calling and certain duties to fulfil in this world. Our path is set according to our duties upon our birth. Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa was married but his disciple, Sri Vivekananda chose Brahmacharya. Both paths have merits if followed with appropriate Dharma. I will share with you my thoughts via e-mail. Until then accept my best wishes and warm regards.
    Sincerely,
    Arun

Thank you for your comments. I read a couplet in another language by an unknown poet and reading them, I became reflective. Result is this poem. Thanks for your thoughtful comments. God bless you.
