This is a wonderfully well-composed acrostic poem which pays homage to all those brave men, and women, who have fought (and are currently still fighting), bled, and died defending our right to freedom. You've even managed to add rhyme to the mix and still keep the poem coherent.
No easy feat for an acrostic poem.
Well done.
I'll be watching for this in the contest booth.
Good luck to you!

Through perilous time you fought for all (times)
Difficult--an acrostic with rhyme and a given subject as well. You have done very well with this. Best wishes in the contest, my friend~Debbie

Very well done poem done in two forms, impressive! Delivers a clear and true message.
A couple things for your consideration.
Would..gratitude will not fade...work better for rhythm? Would the lives be unrecovered? Would "cried" (or another "ide" word) work better than "offered"?
That's it. Great job!

A moving tribute to the soldiers who have and do fight for our country.
What a sacrifice only those who have been there or lost someone can really understand.
Unfortunately, the sacrifice wasn't always made just on the battlefield, but once they returned and tried to live with PTSD.
Your poem is a great testimonial to them.

Ronda,
Thanks so much for your review and very kind comments. Your words ring loud and clear about the veterans who suffer from PTSD which my husband is one. A Vietnam and Gulf war veteran, I had to fight to finally get him the help he needed when he returned from the Gulf war. It took over ten years or more I stopped counting until the VA finally recognized him as suffering from PTSD. Blessings.............................

That's sad that you had to work so hard to get him the help he needed and deserved! It shouldn't be that way, but I have a friend who went through much the same. I'm glad you wrote the poem to honor all those who sacrificed!

This is a heart felt poem of praise and thanksgiving to the people who have served their country in the armed forces. The poem is not specific to any era or particular war, rather includes all who have served with a genuine sense of gratitude.

Your poem is well written. I like that you took the topic and made it an acrostic and gave it rhyme scheme. Those two stylistic choices means you had to put a great deal of thought into your word choice. Your rhymes do not sound forced. It is a beautiful tribute to our vets.
