Interesting observation. Men seek gold or some other object that's precious to them, but they need to look inside and find the gold that's there. Sometimes what they look for is just a fool's gold. I like that quotation from Jim Carrey. As you mention, Jesus is able to see the gold, the value, in every individual. Excellent AABB rhyme and lovely flow. judi

You're very welcome. I'm glad to see that Jim Carrey could come up with something so insightful. It made a great starting point for your poem. judi

I think the loneliest and unhappiest people are celebrities. A wonderful poem about not getting sucked into the fool's gold and things that have no value in this life.

Another beauty, Roy, from your prolific, Spiritual pen. And, though I don't usually consider the attendant pictures when I ponder the meaning of a poem, Jim Carrey's quote is particularly apt. Did the poem grow out of the quote? Or did you search for the perfect picture and words to enhance your meaning?

A most interesting quote from Jim Carey...fame and riches are not the answer. We may not find the gold we seek, not knowing that it's within us. The gold is often deeply buried though...
Well done, Roy!

True, yet some men trade it for fools gold in the form of endless entertainment, over drinking, gambling, hyper sexuality. Some men abandon their Godly nature to follow a course of hatred and brutality, waging war on people who do not even know them or bear them no ill will. Men such as these are hard to reach because they do not want to be reached, though we continue to beseech them to turn around and to seek salvation.

Roy, you are so right. Don't we wish we saw in ourselves and others what God sees. He sees what we can be if we let Him work within us

"No man is perfect, no, not one." I liked your poem and still wish you would write for the Christmas poetry contest. We wouldn't be on planet earth if we were perfect, we are here to learn. Thank you Roy.

So true, we have all the riches we could ever desire within us, 'God deposits' Christ said, 'Heaven is within you.' Very illuminating poem Mr. Roy, blessings...
