Ha, some really great lines in this one, Shari. I laughed out loud at the flirting part.

Yikes! Alligator Alley doesn't sound like a fun place to have a car break down. But of course one wouldn't know. Yeesh.

As always, your story is fascinating and just keeps getting better.

Love it!

Gloria

That's is true about flirting. I can't help myself. Wish I had learned the art while in high school or college, but probably would have ended up with more than I bargained for.
Alligator Alley is a frightening name. But the Everglades are full of them.

Hey Shari, I am going to be a little sad when your story ends. It has been an engaging read every post. I am so glad you have taken us on this journey of ups and downs from your past. Hope you and Frank are doing well. Hugs!

Another entertaining tale, Shari. I enjoyed the wisdom and the humor you presented. Not to keep the emotional baggage and let ruin the visit. Your astrological assessment 'Men have two heads' was funny.

Then we're hoping you'll loan us a car so we can drive to Miami to see his parents."--I believe you need a coma before so.

Take care,
Russell

You're right about the comma, Professor. :-) Glad you found both humor and philosophy in here.

Wow, Shari! I can't believe your book is almost completed. Are you excited, or a little sad it's done...like your fans? A good chapter and I sure look forward to what the last few chapters will be.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

I'm relieved it's almost finished so I can start the rewrite and possibly self-publish but change names to protect the not so innocent. Thanks for keeping track of this, Karyn.
    Hugs,
    Shari

A well written story about the interview with your inner feelings expressed intermittently. I like how you wrote; She clung to Jeff like Saran wrap and vice versa. This gives such a vivid picture of that moment. Well done!

Hmmm. Ending soon? I knew it was coming but I seems to me that there are gaps in this memoir. Stories about Chris for one thing, maybe your cat, but I could have missed this or that due to my frequent absences. I still haven't decided if I will return. Just got too much work to do. Got to decide if I want to continue with National Board Cert, take care of yearbook, newsletter, grade papers and other crap, plan (sometimes that seems like a waste of time), prepare activities that I think might be fun ( they tend to blow up in my face for one class), and I am trying to start up a bilingual theater. I think I am nuts!!!!!

The size of his head shocked me too. Jeff had to special order hats. Since he's a Leo, my aunt, the astrologer, said a large head often marked this sign. Not true of my son or grandson, both born in late July. But then, men have two heads, so who knows where size comes into the picture. Maybe, my daughter had a double whammy>>>>>> hahahahahahahahaha this is just two funny. I am still laughing. Have you ever, um, asked her about the other head?

Will keep stopping by for the next and maybe the last installment....

No, I haven't asked, but someday I may drop a comment when the mood is a humorous one. Nichole was shocked when I told her Chris confided in me that his first girlfriend thought him a great lover. That's the difference between the two--one's an open book. Nichole won't share her pages.
Maybe I'll add some tidbits about Chris when I do the rewrite, but he never caused any problems. His only flaw is that once he starts talking, he can't stop no matter what the subject!

Your relationship with Nicole makes for good drama in a memoir. And I can't think of a better catalyst than Jeff to stir up the embers. I've enjoyed this series and am going to be a little sad when it completes.

I encouraged her to not give up. [I believe this is a split infinitive, though I'm open to instruction to the contrary. I think the "not" should be after "her."]

Shades of Mr. Wilson, my high school English teacher. He tried to din that rule into my head. Usually, I catch it, but you got me. LOL
After I finish, I might add other chapters if something dramatic really happens--like Jeff croaks?

If he did, I'm sure it would be with panache. I'm a Leo, too!

Astrology also says that people whose name start with J are great lovers as well.

Isn't it amazing the mental baggage people carry around. How anyone could think that you plan to have a car break down and in the most inconvenient place possible is beyond me. A person would have to be an amazing mechanic to do it. I hope you are right and that your daughter finally lets it go.

The dialog is realistic. I can feel the tension between your and your daughter as the conversation progresses and the sudden relief as Jeff steps in. Who knew he could be sensitive to such a situation.

Personally, I only lend someone my pick up if I am along to do the driving. You are far more generous than I would have been. They would have had to rent a car to drive.

Well done.

They didn't have the money to rent a car and we didn't have it to loan. As it was, we had to reimburse them for whatever the mechanic did. Thanks for the feedback and wonderful rating, debi.

Let me get this straight: It would've been YOUR fault if Jeff broke up with Nichole over the car incident? No, no, no. Sigh. Someday she will see things more clearly. Do you and Nichole have similar temperaments? I ask because it sounds like the head-butting that goes on between my daughter and I. She and I have similar temperaments and, unfortunately, we're both stubborn.

I'll have to think about that. Basically we got along great until she met Jeff. LOL

I guess a broken down car on a deserted highway would test any relationship. But Nichole always goes for the underdog and felt sorry for Jeff.
