Yes, yes, yes, my mother was like that, too. She wrote poems down on any scrap. Now, alas, I am following in her footsteps. I am voting for your poem because it best reflects my life. I do not want the pounding of inspiration to stop. I must be always ready to catch inspiration. Your poem encourages me to keep writing.

Excellent job in the penning of this poem my dear poet. I have found words entertaining in my head while in the shower. Then to find once I have finished I couldn't remember the words. I enjoyed this great poem and wish you the very best in the contest. Blessings................Portia

Thank you so much for the read and your comment. Several times I have had to drip and find something to write on. It is funny that if I don't get the thought down right away, it leaves and doesn't return. I guess you have had the same experience. Thanks for the read and for sharing.

Excellent. I can certainly relate to this. I have written ideas and poems on restaurant napkins even gotten ot of bed at midnight to jot things down.The rhyme and rhythm of your poem is smooth and even... The words are well chosen. Great job!

The compulsion or need to write is the sure sign that the speaker is truly a writer. As thoughts and ideas come to the non writer there is no urgency to put pen to paper, but the writer is controlled by the need to write. And, as you say in the last line you hope that need will never end. Spoken like a true writer.

Sometimes with me it stops for a short time, and it's terrible. I too have written on napkins or whatever is available before the words get away. Good luck in the contest.
