Call me crazy, but as I read the first then second stanza, all I could think of was an earthly soul being released after death then cremation; headed for their God and heaven. I'm sure that is not the intended given the title, but definitely where my mind went. Perhaps I just need medication. Lovely in content, rhyme and meter. Good luck in the contest.

Okay, you're crazy! The battle is an earthly one with help from the Divine. We all carry some baggage with us and this is a poem displacing all the negative influences on the soul. The soul is then ready to take on a new divine dimension. This is sort of the battle towards enlightenment.
