Jeff and the camera. It seems he needs to be on one side or the other of it at all times. Acting or photographing seems to be high on his list. Even though he seems to have settled down a bit, he still has the bad boy tendencies.

I like your mix of short story and script to show the difference between your story telling and Jeff's scripting. It enhances this story since you are telling about Jeff and his film making, and the questions seem more scripted than spontaneous anyway.

Shari,

This is really funny. You were hitting my funny bone on a regular beat count.

"Yo, Parental Unit, how'd it go with Albino Chick?" my
son's voice boomed over the wire."

Kids, seriously....

"ME: Sure. After I'm dead."

Too funny!

"ME: Yes, dear. Over my dead body."

Laughing my ass off now!

Really, Jeff has a lot of nerve asking that kind of question of your husband. Just what was he hoping to gain by asking that?

"My second shock--now a Tsunami. That's exactly what I thought,
but I couldn't say it. Later, I thought of a witty response:
"Let me count the ways." Had I been on my toes,
I would have turned it into a joke."

Don't you hate it when the right words don't come until later? LOL

"Five minutes later, I brought up the first time we met Jeff.
Big mistake. Nichole still can't forgive Frank and me for
something we did over twenty years ago."

Uh-oh...what's this?
Well, I have to make sure to see what in the world you guys did 20 years ago...

Great writing and humor!

Kelly

I think most fathers always see their daughters as little girls or teenagers. I am amazed that Nicole thinks she can change her husband. It must have been fun to spend time with Phyllis Diller.

Diller was in a wheelchair and in her golden age at that time. She would enjoy his crude humor. Nichole supports Jeff financially. Need I say more?

Good chapter, Shari. I was curious why they wanted to interview you and Frank. I'm surprised you didn't ask lol. Just. Couple of things to look at...

Rosie hides in the master closet whenever we have company. She['s] doesn't spend a lot of time

I'd like to read it when you're finished.["]

Several years ago, she mentioned that when her boss gave parties that included spouses,(Two "that" close in the same sentence)

instead of saying "It is what it is," she had thought(,) "It is what you make it."(put in italics to be consistent with other thoughts?)

Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Yikes! I can't believe I put two THAT's in a sentence. I actually try to avoid that word altogether.
I added a line to explain the interview. Jeff just loved making videos and sometimes posting them on line. Thanks for the read and review and catching my errors.

Oh me, Shari, are you in the doghouse again? :-)
I liked the interview between you and Jeff...I hate it when I'm caught off guard with a wisecrack question and think of the perfect comeback hours later! I liked your aside thoughts to Jeff's remarks.
I always wondered about your nickname "Spitfire". :-)

Thanks, BG, for the six. I'm not good with rapid fire comebacks, but Frank is. In this case, he might have been honest, but wisely kept his mouth shut. LOL

Oh no..... This could be a big one. Shari, we all know you as loving and kind and generous, but sometimes you DO say what you're thinking, you know. *smile* This could be veeeerrry bad... hahahahaha!

Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks!

Glad the time you had together went well for the most part. Wondering about this faux pas you made. Hope it damper your good time. Hopeful that did not.

This was a very enjoyable late night read, very funny. Your wit shines in this episode. Love the contrast between your outer and inner dialogue.

breathing enthusiasm into the stale air of our lives>> very nice phrase
She likes to be around me, and I avoid cooking as much as I can. Hooray for frozen dinners." >>nice quip
ME: Sure. After I'm dead.>>>roaring with laughter. I can you say the italicized bit....

A nit for you the check. Bet you've already be informed...
Parental Unit, how'd >>some spacing issues here. Did he really call you that? I like it, touch of humor with a touch of the sarcastic and a dash of sharp wit... Does Chris take after you?

Will keep checking back for the next exciting episode of your past...

Yes, Chris does call us that sometimes. He's a character. My hubby has a sharp wit. I'm sarcastic. LOL
Thanks for a great review and telling me what you liked.

A well written story and left with the suspense of what happened 20 years ago. I like how you say referring to Jeff, "you're more laid back " but inwardly say "more socially acceptable"

I love reading your sarcasm between the lines. :) Your son seems to have a great insight into your family mechanics, as well as his father's dementia. I also think Phyllis Diller could have found a friend in anyone! The plot thickens as you leave the reader wondering what in the world your daughter can't forgive you for...Kids these days!

You would have to stop there. What did you do? Something less than tactful, I'm guessing. But it's good that Jeff is mellowing. Maybe it comes with age.

I suspect Jeff's mellowing has more to do with Nichole giving tough love. :-)
