A very well-written touring guide, your interesting attractions, awaken the adventurer in me, to go and see that wonderful place for myself. We hear of all these places but never know all the hidden secrets.

Sounds like a fun place to visit. The food sold me on it. Your piece is humorous and descriptive. You should write for travel brochures.

Yay for Lancaster!!! I've been to Palmdale, and that was VERY exciting, lol. We have an office out there for aviation forecasting, and it actually is interesting to visit there. I loved the part where your heart started talking to you. Also, the POPPIES - I haven't been to see them yet, but it's on the list.
Your diner story reminded me of a place in Missoula MT where you could order brains and eggs. The deal was, you walked into the bar and yelled out "I need 'em!" and the bartender yelled back to the kitchen "He/she needs 'em!" Lol.
Anyway, I do like your story about Lancaster, which you're making sound so much more interesting than TO. Carol

Michael, you really wrote a wonderful guide to Lancaster, CA. You got the earthquake fault, the poppies, the sands, the aerospace industry and the local cafe. Nice write. The one thing you forgot was that the winds which are not measured in MPH they are measured in inches. The size of rock the wind blows around tells you how strong the winds are, i.e. quarter inch winds, 1/2 inch winds etc. if the winds are one inch winds, stay inside a strong fortress. Patricia

Hi Mikey,
well if nothing else I am up for a breakfast at Crazy Otto's. Come to think of it, a couple of nice gold nuggets would look great hanging off my dainty ear lobes.
Come to think of it ,I'm little bit hooked on poppy seeds as well. Oh heck, it looks like I have a busy year ahead with all these trips coming up.
A great read.

Oh, my, my, my, I can see me dancing through the poppies crazier than both Tiny Tim and the shit-house mouse. Wondering where I am and where I might be going, but not really giving a ding-a-ling damn. Thanks for sharing another fine read that just might have created a new mad dash to Lancaster. Nope, not for the gold, but those fields of joy. Great job. :-)

Well Mav, it sounds to me like Crazy Otto's is the oasis in Lancaster. Of course I would have that meal for breakfast, lunch and supper and even snacks too if only for the chance to throw the parsley on the floor with contempt. As an aside, when one is a strict vegan a sprig of parsley starts to be mighty tasty and a main part of the meal.
mountain of cheese filed (filled) with sausage, BACON -- yeeeeeeess.
I suppose it would be quite a site (sight) with it
Anyway excellent ad for your town with your signature humour and focus on the important things in life--bacon.
Thanks for sharing,
Ange

what a fun challenge. You definitely got me wanting to visit Lancaster. Your description of breakfast at Crazy Otto's nearly gave me my own heart attack. Great work with this and got me looking it up on the map. Too bad it is in California, I don't have any plans to return to the US in the near, or distant, future, but, if I did, Lancaster would definitely be on my list.
