Great photo of the rain dance. The natives get all dressed
up to celebrate and pray. Glad that it worked. Great entry.

What can one say about such a tiny poem to fill two lines, and yet, its presentation is what drew me - fabulous artwork. As for the poem itself, I'm not sure I understand the satori - you have "natives" with an apostrophe, which would mean you are calling the rainwater the dance of the natives (which is actually quite good). Is that intentional?
Best of luck in the contest.

Yes it is intentional and you are the first brilliant mind to notice! I enjoy such a twist and generally offer up such in my short pieces. Thank you for the amazing review.
God bless

:) Wow. "Brilliant mind", huh? Please -pass on that comment to the ones who select 'Recognized' members, would you? (LOL)
All kidding aside, that type of writing is what is so often overlooked in these small forms, and IMHO, is the ONLY way to write them. Kudos to you for choosing your words so carefully for this little gem.

When I saw title & picture, I had to click . . . living thru this 5-year drought in California, we get very excited when it rains! *smile* (so far, so good, this winter!) I like that you use large complex words in a very-very-short poem, which shows a degree of sophistication that is rare. Much harder to limit syllables when your words are multi-syllabic! I find the word "Native's" to be a bump. It seems like the apostrophe is not needed. Or, if you use a possessive word, the apostrophe needs to be on the other side of the "s" to show plural AND possession. Thanks for taking my suggestion under consideration! (((HUGS)))

Yes, we had a seven year drought here in Houston Tx, and then major flooding. Thank you for taking the time to read and review and for the suggestions my friend.

Many primitive cultures, including many of our own nation's Native American Indians, performed specific ritualistic dances in hopes of brings rain to their parched, arid lands. The ancient Aztecs sacrificed human beings to their sun god to appeased his thirst with blood in hopes for rain.
Still today, in many remote recesses of the globe and third world countries, rain dances are still a big deal.
Thank heavens for the 21st century, 'ey?

LOL Right! Well a young lady by the name of Sandra told me that in 1976 Australia had one of its worst droughts. The mayor (or what ever she called him) spent tax payers money to bring in a rain maker. The folks as you might imagine felt this was absurd. But, to there surprise the dance brought immediate rain. Coincidence? Hmmmmmm. Thank you Dean for always participating in reviewing the works of the mass.
God bless my friend.
-
Hey, whatever works, right?
Maybe the Mayor's idea wasn't so far-fetched after all?
Who can say for sure?
You're more than welcome. :)

Right!

Nicely done with the image adding to the delivery. How true, yet might not be so often it comes, why they dance...as to try to bring forth.
Good imagery for such few words.
The best of luck.

A very well-written 3-5-3 poem about water. The rain is always welcomed where I live. Our existence depend mostly on water and rain.

I remember back in 1976 we had a drought (UK) unusual too, after many months the government paid for a rain-maker to come and do his dance, and while everyone laughed and moaned about it being a waste of taxpayers money, after he'd danced, it rained!! Now, it might have been a coincidence, but who really knows? Your contest entry brought it all back to me. It's a really good one, good luck, I hope you win. :) Sandra xx

Thank you for sharing this awesome story with me Sandra! We had a severe drought here in Houston tx a few years back and i vowed to never complain about the rain again. However, this year we flooded in our homes twice in 36 days. The 2nd resulting in a total loss of property. Nature is a wondrous thing and should always be respected. Thank you for taking the time to review.
God bless!
