What a challenging poem to express a full idea in such a brief format with quick line-breaks. The picture is an ideal pairing and the words work effectively with or without the image. well done--good luck.

You have followed all the rules for the writing prompt. Water is the essence of your poem. The accompanying picture compliments your theme - rainwater/saturates village/Natives dance. I question if Natives should be capitalized. Good writing. I would recommend it.

Living in Southern California and having a lawn that was once lush and green, I long for if not a refreshing rainfall, I would at least like to be able to freely water my grass. Water restrictions prohibit that. On the rare occasions when we get a good dousing of rain water, I feel like dancing like the aforementioned natives. believe me, I can relate.

Yes, we have had our share of droughts here in Texas. This year we had two major floods 36 days apart. Then no rain for an extended period of time. We had to water ration as well. Never know around here. I pray you get the proper amount of rainfall in your land.
God bless!

One of the most important South African celebrations is the Rainmaking Ceremony of the Lovedu Tribe. Rain is the center of the agricultural cycle, giving it immediate importance in the Lovedu society. The Lovedu believe that The Rain Queen is a rain-maker, and the transformer of the clouds. If the rain is not falling in October then the Queen must be approached. To ensure rainfall each and every year, the Lovedu people summon the powers of the Queen annually on October 22. They do this by approaching the Queen with gifts and dancing performers in order to invoke pity. The Rainmaking Ceremony demonstrates the Lovedu Tribe's strong belief in the power of their Queen as their protector from drought, demonstrating her importance in their belief system.
Thanks for your brief words and artwork celebrating this cultural phenomena
Wishing you all the best...

Awesome! I enjoyed this bit of information you have shared Bill. Quite interesting and current. I feel there is much more of these beliefs around the world than we know.

Are you serious about that apostrophe? The poem is more grammatical without it.
I don't fully understand shortshort poems, or poetic license. looks fine to me otherwise.

Yes, but I removed it lol. I was going for a different meaning, but it doesn't appear to be working. Thank you for the awesome review my friend.

A commentary on how important rain is to survival. It takes tremendous faith to be a farmer and believe year after year that you are going to get enough rain to grow crops.

Rain is survival in many parts of the worl and should the rains fail the consequences both to man and beast can be dire. No wonder these villagers dance their gratitude to their gods when the village is saturated.
