This is a wonderful poem about how fairy tales effected your life and dreams as a child. Your rhyme is unforced and the meter is smooth.
I still write about all kinds of mythical creatures. I will never let those dreams leave me.

Of course, now when you enter 'this land of sleep' you'll be able to talk to and

see Mickey in your dreams every night, and also be able to hold him in your arms, too.

Dragons ought be the gatekeepers for all these (eternal) memories of Mickey which you own in the hearth of your heart today.

Wow, Shane, your review really touched me where it matters. The mention of Mickey is something I hadn't thought of when I wrote the poem, but now I see that it is definitely appropriate. I dream of him constantly, the last one being that he called me on the telephone and asked me if he should go to heaven or the "other place," wherever that is. I, of course, encouraged him strongly to go to heaven, and he agreed. I have a feeling that this dream was in fact a reality, and that Mickey's spirit had lingered and is now ready to leave this plane and cross over.

I love dragons, and will from now on from your review think of them as the gatekeepers for all my memories of my son.

Beautiful. Intriguing to travel back like that. My fort, set up by the sheet hanging on nails overhead. The stories back then held so much magic. I still search for that magic, maybe that is why I write. Green, fresh, holy was the time of the past. Ripped and taken, held in laughter as the spiny sea takes me home, within the bland, the blank, the lost, drowning me quietly.

I loved the days when I could just listen to my mother's gentle voice telling me a story as I drifted off to sleep. Unfortunately we have to grow up eventually, and now and again I find myself wishing for those days in The Land of Sleep. A lovely poem that brings back so many childhood memories. Absolutely fantastic! Keep up the great work!
