This is a beautiful and touching poem. You do a great job of showing us why Carol is special to you. I'm glad she's still alive! Though for sure she wasn't reading this. But how special this must be for her to read. Great job.

Six stars for you, Dovey. This story is told with such warmth and compassion. Your verses flow with sincerely as we take a trip down your memory lane. So many of us have friends who have moved away and lost contact. liberty justice

Georgia? I'll hold off on the remarks about how fortunate Carol is. There are places
inside the 285 loop that scare me. The stamp is a minor character in this ode, but
all he has to do is show his face. Excellent entry.

    Hi LIJ:

Dare to be different, I say lol I'm happy that the postage stamp only had to be integrated into the poem, as that worked out so well for both of our entries. :) Thanks for the great comments!

What a wonderful sonnet you've written for your friend. I hope you send it to her.

Very clever way of working in the postage stamp. 8-)

    Hi Yvonne!

Today is her birthday and I sent it right after I posted. I promise, I didn't mean to make her cry. Tears of joy, I think :)

Kim,
What a great way to combine the irregular ode challenge of a postage stamp with the memories of a great friend. Good job on the style of the irregular ode.

Your lines flowed smoothly, the rhymes were excellent, & the message so heart-felt.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading about this friendship as expressed in the irregular ode. Jan

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. Sometimes, the value of a stamp can be greater than we know :) I appreciate the lovely comments.

How beautifully you managed to attach such great significance to the stamp in this, Kim. It became the answer really to the dilemma of distance and time.
What a beautiful tribute that anyone who's had a true friend will be able to relate too. So heart warming and very welcome to read. Lovely, mikey

How sad that you're so far apart. Thank goodness for things like internet so you can still stay in touch. You sound like a smart lady who knows the value of a true friend. Too often people lose touch.

    Hi Cindy!

Losing touch just isn't an option for us... we've actually gone for a long period of time apart (her husband was in the Air Force overseas) Our first meeting after all those years was a lunch date, that turned out to be 5 hours long and we hadn't scratched the surface lol I appreciate your time and kind comments in reviewing this piece.
