Another good chapter, Shari. The part about Frank trying to take the wheel when Jeff jumped out, made me laugh. I could actually see Jeff being a spoiled brat and not letting it happen. Nichole being car sick? As her mother, you'd know if she had been prone to car sickness all her life. No, something else is going on and I'm pretty sure I know what it is.

I believe Chris is the handsome guy on the left and Jeff is the one acting like a goofball on the right - the one making a fashion statement in those gorgeous (cough, choke, sputter) black and white checked pants.

My first six! Thank you, Suz. You're right about Jeff. Nichole wore a black shirt and a plaid skirt that day. Are they dressing like twins now?

It was the first I had heard of her being car sick. But then she hated dogs when growing up, now has two fat pugs and lets her lick her face. Hey, maybe Jeff looks good compared to them.
Glad you found the humor in this.

There's some pretty good lowekus in your contest. I always wait until the final day to post.

A well written story of your time spent when your daughter and son-in-law visitation. I can see in my imagination, Frank trying to get control of the vehicle as you toured the zoo. I am curious to find out what Chris thought about Nichole's
behavior. Keep writing!

That rickety golf cart was bad enough without having a knowledgeable driver at the wheel. Chris's answer shows amazing insight.

Hi Spitfire,

I'm coming into this late, so I went back and read the previous chapter.

These are the phrases I liked:
"Nichole kept her emotions cool. His boisterous voice contrasted with her quiet demeanor."
"Like you can't just turn up the volume of your GPS and let Liza or Susie or Harry tell you when to turn?"

"Except for the variety of monkeys who banged sticks on pots and pans to keep our attention, the rest of the animals lay on the ground, comatose from age and the heat of the day"

"Except for his horrible driving at the zoo, I thought Jeff behaved himself much better than in the past. I liked him better than Nichole."

"What are you saying!" Further proof that hubby was losing his marbles?"
He must be losing it. That's his daughter he's talking about.

I would say that Chris is on the left and Jeff on the right.

Nice story about visits with family. I wish I had the time to go back and read more.

Great job on this chapter!

Is Jeff on the left in the pic? It sounds like a fun day. I am surprised by your husband's statement about your daughter. It might be related to his dementia. At least the time spent together was peaceful.

Jeff is the bearded creature in the horrible plaid pants. Frank's take stunned me too. My son had the best answer for his dad's statement.

Hi, Shari

= Boy, did I have Jeff pictured all wrong!
= I'm thinking the fella on the left is your son.
= The one on the right is hard to get a read on because of his expression.
= I take it he was clowning around--right?
= Sad our kids' expressions/actions can change so much when they are with their spouse/significant other.

Yes, Jeff is clowning around, but it's a fair portrayal of his looks. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Jax.

As individuals it is not surprising we view
situations differently. People do change.
Perhaps Nichole was being a bit snobbish.
I would think she would want to sit in the
back seat with he mother. I thought Jeff came
across as a very upbeat guy happy to let your
daughter have her day with her family.
Frank could be right. Well done. X Nancy

If I had to guess, Shari, I'd say the guy on the left as you're looking at the photo is your son, and the bearded wonder on the right is Jeff. Only because you've often said in this story that Jeff was a bit of a ham, and that he loved to show off in front of a camera. You know, to be the center of attention all the time?

eff went on to rave about our grandchildren and how much fun they all had together. "If we lived closer, we would totally hang**SPACING** out with Chris and Joanne." (I never asked Chris or his wife if they felt the same. It didn't matter since Joanne hated California as much as Nichole hated Florida.)... You need a space between "hang" and "out" here, Shari.
I can see why people would dislike certain parts of California, places such as L.A., Hollywood, Bakersfield and the like. But I recently spent a week in Sacramento, and it was lovely there. The people were all so friendly, and for a large city, it is kept super clean...

Although I had asked Nichole to sit with me in back, she claimed motion sickness unless in front. ... My ex-wife and daughter are the same way, Shari. They get so car sick anytime they ride in the back seat for long distances. So, she was probably telling the truth...

"Except for his horrible driving at the zoo, I thought Jeff behaved himself much better than in the past. I liked him better than Nichole."

"What are you saying!" Further proof that hubby was losing his marbles?
... Wow! I never thought Frank would say something like that concerning Jeff or Nichole. I'll bet that floored you when you heard him say it too, Shari...

Another great chapter with a cliff-hanger type ending.
Excellent writing.

Hey, on a side note, do you wanna know the best way to keep a writer in suspense?
I'll tell ya later, heh-heh...

The bearded wonder is Jeff clowning around like your hopping cartoon. I corrected spags noted. Frank and I went to Sacramento too. It is lovely and certainly cleaner than other places.
A friend told she couldn't ride in the back either, so Nichole wasn't making it up. I was just getting paranoid.

I thought as much...about who was who in the photo I mean.
Car sickness, especially those sitting in the backseats of automobiles, is not that uncommon, Shari.
    Yes, I LOVED Sacramento.
    It was lovely there.

Shari,

Sounds like a pretty good outing. It's hard to get that many people to agree on anything - so I think you did good! *smile* I enjoyed this.

A couple of notes:
1.) Gee, a bear's lips and (tongue) brushed my fingers. I'll never wash them again.

2.) "She's snooty. All that fancy business at the restaurant.(")

Thanks!

A very well-written interesting story about a great time you had with your grown children and their spouses. The in-law children can surprise us sometimes. Lol.

Hi Shari, I've just fallen into this so to speak, and I'm now sorry I haven't read more of it. Hmm family, the same all over I'm afraid. I can see you have a good sense of humour. I've got the gist of this and I would like to follow on. I will fan you so I don't miss anymore.
Gee, a bear's lips and tougue brushed my fingers = tongue brushed my fingers. All the best. Ulla:)))

Thank you for the compliment. Unfortunately, I'm close to the end, but I'm learned so much about myself and the mistakes I made with loved ones.
