I am honestly in awe of the excellence displayed
in this month's ballot - to the point of pain, at having
to choose "a front runner".

Your poem totally swept me away with both its subject
matter and construction...held me completely captive
with its poetic finesse and compelling imagery.

Though written slightly as tongue in cheek (or maybe
it's just the artwork that invokes that thought) it clearly
speaks to the realities many a woman (or man I suppose)
has had to deal with. . .and the lengths one must go
through to to resolve unacceptable differences.

All I can say is - Nicely done!

. . .and best of wishes in the voting booth!

Thank you for your very thoughtful and encouraging review. I greatly appreciate your comments and good wishes. However, I just checked and I'm in last place. Having said that, I have never been nominated for POM before. So, I am pleased with that.

Hi, Janet

What a deeply emotive poem! I'm so glad I found it this afternoon. Also, congratulations on being selected as a nominee for POM.

You've proven just how wonderfully expressive iambic meter can be when paired with finely tuned enjambment. The theme is well developed and presented. I particularly liked the positive resolution at the end.

The iambs are spot-on and well executed. Everything about the poem is exceptional and I wish you the best of luck in the voting booth.

Well written. Your artwork completed the piece well. Your words flowed easily line to line combining and forming the message of the poem for the reader. Well done.

Well written poem. It is a very interesting comparison a bear to a man. I like the lines finding the flaws in life and sucking the joy from every room. Negative people bring negative energy wherever they go and it is immediately noticeable. Great Job!

I liked this poem a lot, and the analogy to an angry bear. The bear in this artwork looks lonely and I bet your bear was too, when he found himself alone.

Your poem was beautiful, but I also liked your author notes at the end. Marriage really does take a lot of work, sometimes more than others have to bear. I just divorce my husbands. So I have a lot of respect for you in sticking it out and putting in the work to build your relationship back.

I wish you the best.

Kelly

Actually, I divorced my first husband and I'm now the third wife to my husband. I think we got it wrong too many times. This marriage was worth fighting for.

Some times you do what you have to do to survive.

That includes calling a person out when they need to be in hopes that perhaps they will change their ways.

Whatever works - works.

There is a narrative in this lyric poem that describes a long term relationship in which bearish behavior threatened to jeopardize the relationship. Confrontation can have good results or bad results and in this case the added dimension of spirituality seems to have tipped the results into the good column. The rhyme and rhythm move the narrative along easily.
